Kenya wildlife guide

Kenya’s parks are complementary: Mara for migration and cats, Amboseli for elephants and Kilimanjaro views, Samburu for reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra, Tsavo for red elephants and vast landscapes.

Quick park snapshot

Wild animals are free-roaming—guides use skill and radio tips, not guarantees. Longer stays and multiple drives improve odds for leopard and cheetah.

  • Masai Mara: Highest predator drama during migration; excellent year-round for lions and general game.
  • Amboseli: Elephant herds in front of Kili on clear mornings; wetlands and dry plains mix.
  • Samburu / Buffalo Springs / Shaba: ‘Special Five’ and arid-country species.
  • Tsavo: Huge area—combine East and West for variety; fewer vehicles per square kilometre than Mara.
  • Lake Nakuru / Laikipia: Strong for rhino context and conservancy activities.
