The location of the Mara River Camp offers breathtaking views over the winding Mara River. Wildlife activity and a peaceful ambiance are available for all guests visiting the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. The layout of the camp is laid back offering a chilled atmosphere. Guests can relax in the main area’s sitting area or choose to unwind at their tent, large verandahs offering the ideal spot to listen to the sounds of the surrounding bush and for keeping an eye out for passing animals.
Meals are enjoyed in a central dining area, the ‘boma-style’ set up offering a display of delicious local cuisine, as well as the option of a la carte dining. Spending time out on safari is exciting and what better way to cool down than in the spacious swimming pool set out in the garden in front of the camp’s public areas? Guests should be sure to check out the small gift shop for those last-minute souvenirs.
Location
Nestled at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment, the Mara River Camp is located on the northwest boundary of the Masai Mara National Reserve, overlooking the beautiful Mara River. Guests can fly in from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, a one-hour flight that will have them land at the Kichwa Tembo Airstrip. It is a short drive to the camp from there. If guests do drive from Nairobi, that drive can take over five hours.
Rooms / Tents
The Mara River Camp comprises 22 large canvas tents, all raised on wooden platforms. The spacious deck makes the perfect spot for guests to sit and gaze out over the Mara River. 19 of the tents can be made up as a Double Room or Twin Room with two single beds. Three Deluxe Tents offer a larger Double or Queen Room. Rooms are decorated in soft neutral colors, with highlights of browns and splashes of orange to offer that classic safari feel.
All tents offer a standing mirror, a writing desk and chair, a small sitting area and electricity and heating available in each tent. Bathrooms are en-suite with shower, vanity and toilet and little amenities for guests to use during their stay.

Besides the much-enjoyed game drives through the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, qualified guides can lead guests through the wilderness with a chance to spot the Big Five and many plains game as they wander in the distance.
A hot air balloon ride will give guests an aerial view over savannahs and forested areas, and a chance to view animals and winding rivers for miles. The Masai Mara cultural village located nearby will give guests the opportunity to embrace the traditions and stories of the legendary Masai tribe. Bird lovers will enjoy the opportunity to spot any of the 450 bird species in this region. For those looking to pass the time in between game drives, there is also archery – a fun experience in a truly unique setting.
