Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge stands proudly at the highest point of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, offering incredible and captivating views over the Crater floor. With 97 rooms, large public areas, and friendly and attentive staff, guests can enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and unforgettable experience in one of Tanzania’s best-loved safari destinations.

The Crater Bar is a favorite spot for guests to gather, with spectacular views presented through the floor-to-ceiling windows, most ideal to watch the sunset. Meals are enjoyed in the large dining room, also offering outstanding views and guests can relax on the property’s lawn.

There is an inviting swimming pool for guests to enjoy, and while wandering through the gift boutique, guests should find their ideal souvenirs to take away with them. There is a business center for those guests who need to get some work done and at night, guests can gather around a campfire, regaling stories of their day’s adventure.

Location

The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is located in the Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy, a 90-minute drive from the Lake Manyara Airstrip. Flights from Arusha to the Airstrip will take around 30 minutes while traveling by road from Arusha will be a four-hour drive.

Rooms / Tents

97 Guest Rooms are set up in double-story rounded buildings or ‘rondavels’. There are four rooms in each rondavel, all equipped with two queen-size beds, and all boasting furnished verandahs offering spectacular views over the Crater. Rooms are decorated with reds and browns in the bedspreads, curtains, and a little art, depicting the colors of the local tribes.

There is central heating in each room, a safe for guests to store valuables, a mini-bar, and a tea/coffee-making station. Wifi is on offer in each room, as is room service. The bathrooms have a toilet, vanity, and a bathtub with an overhead shower. There are bathroom amenities for guests to use during their stay.

Cultural visits to a local Maasai village is a fantastic way to understand the rich heritage and cultural charm of the community. Guests can visit Olduvai Gorge or Empakai Crater, both located around 20 miles away.
