The Majlis Resort

The beautiful and serene Majlis Resort is a boutique-style beachfront resort on Manda Island that comprises 39 luxurious suites, all offering fantastic ocean views from your verandah or balcony. The grounds hold three swimming pools that are ideally placed on the property all overlooking the Indian Ocean. There are four incredible restaurants and four ocean-facing bars, all strategically located around the uniquely designed resort, serving either Italian, Indian, Japanese, or Swahili dishes.

Services offered at the Majlis Resort include the option to be pampered with a massage treatment, working out at a small fitness center, and amazing excursions to witness wildlife wonders both from the water and by jeep, in nearby wildlife destinations. Water activities and visits to cultural sites are also on offer to guests.

Location

The Majlis Resort is located on Manda Island in the Lamu Archipelago and offers panoramic views of Lamu Island and Ras Kitau Beach. The nearest airport is Lamu/Manda Airport which is a 10-minute boat ride away. Flights from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta or Wilson Airport to Lamu/Manda will take around one hour.

39 exquisite boutique rooms and suites make up the accommodation options at The Majlis Resort. The Deluxe Suites have one bedroom and are en-suite with a verandah and the Royal Suites have two separate suites both en-suite, and a balcony offering ocean views.

The Junior Suite is a large apartment with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony boasting wonderful views. There are Family Suites with two deluxe rooms both en-suite and two large verandahs off the ground floor. The last room type is the Superior Suites which have a superior bedroom en-suite with a verandah or balcony.

The rooms are air-conditioned and have a lounge area, a dining area, and a mini-bar in the rooms. There is a satellite television, WiFi, a safe for guests to store valuables as well and 24-hour room service.

Game Viewing / Activities

The Majlis Resort offers River and Mainland Safaris, the former an option to experience the Tana River Delta where the Tana River meets the Indian Ocean. Animals sighted include lions, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos. Birdlife is also understandably outstanding. Around Lake Kenyatta, you can enjoy a 4×4 Jeep game drive and look out for elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, hippos, and many more.

Back at the resort, guests can enjoy water sports such as windsurfing, kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and a chance to enjoy deep sea fishing. Visits to the Timboni Coral Quarry can be arranged as they are located only four miles away and the Takwa Ruins are only seven miles from The Majlis Resort.
