Distant Relatives Eco Lodge and Backpackers

A unique experience awaits at the environmentally-friendly Distant Relatives Eco Lodge and Backpackers, a property located near Kilifi Creek on Kenya’s east coast. The nature-inspired lodge offers comfortable accommodation in either private rooms, dormitories, or safari tents, as well as space for guests to put up their own tents. There is a laid-back atmosphere with a submersion into nature a key factor, all tents and rooms surrounded by trees, and a short walk away is the Creek Beach.

Food based on local and international cuisine is served in the humble restaurant, where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests can also take a “Boda” (motorbike taxi) ride to nearby ‘Food Movement” which is a local restaurant close to the Kilifi plantation that serves local dishes by a traditional Swahili chef. Kenyan coffee is served in the small bar, with alcoholic beverages of choice served later in the day amid friendly banter between bar staff and guests. There is an inviting swimming pool on the grounds with comfortable sitting areas set up around it.
