Your African safari adventure begins in Arusha where you’ll hop aboard your private 4×4 Jeep for the trip to Lake Manyara National Park, a stunning jewel of verdant forest, grassy floodplain, and the lake itself. Along the way, you’ll be delighted by the many troops of baboons, plus blue monkeys, wildebeest, and zebra. We’ll keep a special eye out for the park’s unique tree-climbing lions. Don’t miss the thousands of eye-catching pink flamingoes adorning the lake’s shoreline.

The names of certain places immediately bring to mind thoughts of adventure – Serengeti is such a destination. Tanzania’s largest reserve, Serengeti National Park is also the country’s oldest, and its “endless plains” are home to literally millions of wildlife. This is the spot where the world’s Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras begins. Here too, you’ll find the greatest number of lions on the continent. The Serengeti is an immense world of hunters, grazers, and over 500 species of birds.

Next, we’ll make a brief stop at the cradle of mankind – the world’s most recognized anthropological site, Oldupai Gorge. The ravine here has brought forth ancient remnants of early man.

Arriving at the crest of the planet’s largest intact volcanic crater is a defining moment for many safari-goers. Staring across the richly hued expanse of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and its vast caldera echoes the promise of a different kind of adventure. Descending the crater walls into this special place, you’ll find the greatest density of lions in Africa. Expect anything in this unique world – elephants, buffalos, gazelles, endangered black rhinos, and bright pink flamingoes!

Our final park may sit in the shadows of the above reserves but it’s a rewarding destination on its own – Tarangire National Park boasts the largest concentration of elephants in the world! Along with large numbers of lions, leopards, and cheetahs, this unexpected park is set to amaze.

7 Days Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara (250 km: 2.5 hrs)

07:30 – Your driver/guide from Adventure In The Wild Safaris will pick you up from your hotel, airport, or residence in Arusha.

Hop into your private 4×4 safari Jeep and begin your adventure to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive through Maasai country, with its diverse climates and unique vegetation.

Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti (215 km: approx. 4 hrs)

After an early breakfast and sunrise, we journey to the famous Serengeti National Park.

Along the way, enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the vast treeless plains filled with wildlife—wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, impala, lions, leopards, and over 50,000 buffalo spread across the grasslands.

Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti

Spend the entire day exploring the wonders of Serengeti. Often referred to as one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of Africa”, the Serengeti is home to millions of predators and grazers and over 500 species of birds.

The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word “siringet”, meaning “endless plains”. Enjoy your game drives across this diverse ecosystem, looking for monkeys, baboons, wild dogs, honey badgers, hippos, and crocodiles in its rivers. A hearty lunch will energize you for an afternoon of more wildlife viewing.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro (160 km: approx. 3 hrs)

Wake to the colors of sunrise over the Serengeti and enjoy breakfast before departing for Ngorongoro Crater.

En route, stop at Oldupai Gorge, a significant archaeological site where discoveries have shed light on early human history.

Continue to Ngorongoro Crater—the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater is home to over 25,000 animals including big cats, elephants, zebras, and gazelles. Optional: visit a local Maasai boma (village) for a cultural experience (for a small fee).

Day 5: Full Day at Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, descend into the crater for a full day of game viewing in this natural wonder.

The crater hosts the highest density of predators in Africa and is home to endangered black rhinos, flamingoes, jackals, and hippos.

Enjoy a picnic lunch amid the wildlife. Later in the afternoon, return to the crater rim to relax after a thrilling day of exploration.

Day 6: Ngorongoro – Tarangire (150 km: approx. 3 hrs)

Enjoy breakfast with views over the volcanic landscape before heading to Tarangire National Park.

Arrive by midday after a lunch stop. Tarangire is known for its high elephant population—over 3,000 roam its compact yet lively ecosystem. Keep an eye out for lions and enjoy the stunning baobab trees that give the park its unique character.

Day 7: Tarangire – Arusha (160 km: approx. 3 hrs)

After a final safari breakfast, depart Tarangire and begin the return journey to Arusha.

We’ll break the journey with a lunch stop at a local restaurant and reflect on the week’s unforgettable experiences in Tanzania’s top safari destinations.
