For 6 days you’ll discover 3 of Tanzania’s finest parks – immense panoramas of sweeping horizons, upon which the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth plays out before you. Descend into the largest volcanic crater in the world, an ecosystem of over 25,000 animals. Witness the ageless Serengeti plains with its immense population of lions. We’ll travel to Lake Manyara, home to tree-climbing lions and countless blazing pink flamingoes.
Welcome to Tanzania – its immense landscapes and startling wildlife will leave you breathless.
Lake Manyara National Park
We will pick you up in Arusha and whisk you off to one of the prettiest parks in the country, showing off its jungle-like forest and blue alkaline lake. Lake Manyara National Park is a gem – not large but that adds to its appeal – there’s so much varied wildlife in its compact but breath-taking scenery.
Safari-goers flock here to see the flamingoes, but the park is also known for great herds of elephants and massive towers of giraffes. Also be on the lookout for wildebeests, impalas, leopards, lions, and vast troops of baboons.
Serengeti National Park
The name Serengeti is known throughout the world as a vast plain holding uncountable wildlife – perhaps the largest population of lions in Africa. The immense Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s oldest reserve and is called the “endless plains” by the region’s Maasai people.
Covering an area of 14,750 sq. km (5,700 sq. mi), its great savannah is bordered by riverine forest and woodlands, home to over a million wildebeests and 200,000 zebras, the cradle of the Great Migration. On this most famous of the country’s parks, we’ll also be tracking elephants, hyenas, cheetahs, monkeys, baboons, and the African golden wolf.
Oldupai Gorge
We’ll move on through time and space to ancient Oldupai Gorge, perhaps the most noted anthropological site in the world, known as the cradle of humanity. This steep ravine has yielded the earliest artifacts of man.
Ngorongoro Crater
We’ll then proceed to the crest of the crater at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Traveling down the slopes of the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet, we’re quickly immersed in the blue/green expanse before us, home to the greatest density of lions and predators in Africa.
The crater is an enclosed world, even producing its own weather! Here you’ll find hundreds of hyenas, lions, jackals, elephants, buffalos, gazelles, and endangered black rhinos, all filling this “eighth wonder of the world”.
