Elephant Bedroom Camp

Set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, Elephant Bedroom Camp is a small, private camp offering a quality, luxury safari experience in an intimate setting. Located near the popular Samburu National Reserve, the surrounding scenery is captivating with winding river frontage and Mt. Kenya as one of Elephant Bedroom Camp’s beautiful backdrops.

The camp has a dining area with a large seating area, both decorated in rich safari colors and offering a truly relaxing ambiance. Cuisine is continental with the option for meals to be served al fresco or in the privacy of a guest’s suite or out under the stars. Each of the 14 luxury tents has its own private plunge pool set on a spacious deck, commanding views out into the surrounding wilderness. Activities available from Elephant Bedroom Camp include cultural village visits, lectures on the Samburu culture, sundowners, and picnic lunches.

Location

Elephant Bedroom Camp is located in the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, adjacent to the Samburu National Reserve. It is a six-hour drive from Nairobi and a 90-minute flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport with guests flying into the Kalama Airstrip, followed by a 45-minute drive through the Samburu park.

Rooms / Tents

There are 14 luxury and spacious, raised tents all decorated in subtle yet authentic African hues. Each tent has a deck with a sunk-in private plunge pool, commanding views over the Ewaso Nyiro River and the wilderness beyond. The canvas ceilings are high and the living space is bright and airy. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a double vanity, toilet, rain shower, and pampering amenities for guests to use. Bedding can be made up as double, queen, or twin.

Game Viewing / Activities

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are possible from Elephant Bedroom Camp, with the option to enjoy a full day in the bush, and a picnic lunch packed for your day out. Buffalos roam amidst herds of elephants, monkeys are at play and impala keep a watchful eye out for predators such as lions and leopards.

Game viewing in the Samburu region is spectacular, with days out on safari always exciting. Walking safaris are possible with trained guides showing you the smaller wonders and flora and fauna as you track animals and fully submerge in nature.
