Sarova Shaba Game Lodge

An area rich in wildlife and scenic beauty, the Shaba National Reserve is located east of Samburu and a wonderful example of safari excellence set in tranquil nature. Set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lodge is uniquely designed and ensures key public areas like the raised Surpelei restaurant and bar plus all accommodation overlooks the winding river. Location

A road transfer from Nairobi will take just under six hours while flying from Nairobi to Isiolo Airport is a one hour flight. The Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is located inside the Shaba National Reserve which lies just east of the Samburu National Park, in Northern Kenya.

Rooms / Tents

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge has a total of 85 rooms made up of 80 standard rooms, four junior suites and one presidential suite – the Shaba Born Free Suite. All accommodation is en-suite with bathrooms comprising showers, toilet, sink as well as quality bathroom amenities. Each room has WiFi connectivity, mosquito nets over the beds and a ceiling fan.

There is an in-room safe, a complimentary bottle of water, tea/coffee making facilities and bedding options include a pillow menu. The suites have a cozy lounge area with space for a sofa bed if needed. The Born Free Suite has a lounge that opens up onto a gardened area and the pool.

Game Viewing / Activities

Guests staying at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge are invited to take a walk on the wild side with a qualified guide leading them through the Shaba Reserve, learning about the flora and fauna and abundant birdlife. Game Drives take place in both Shaba National Reserve and Samburu National Park. The beautiful landscape of the semi-desert terrain of the Shaba Reserve is home to the elusive eland, greater and lesser kudu and predators like lion, leopard and cheetah. Elephants roam in both Shaba and Samburu and stopping for a sundowner cocktail in either location is the perfect way to end your day on safari in Kenya.
