DAILY KENYA FLIGHT SAFARI
Fly North, Then South to These Active Parks
6 DAYS, 5 NIGHTS: SAMBURU PARK & MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE
Starts Nairobi/Ends Nairobi – We’ll pick you up from the International Airport, your hotel, or residence and transfer to nearby Wilson Airport for your morning flight.
Enjoy this amazing safari in a customized open-sided Adventure In The Wild Safaris 4×4 Safari Jeep that includes: Cooler Box, long-range high-frequency radio, Power Outlets AC 230V, First Aid Kit, and above all, a professional multi-lingual safari guide who will ensure you have an unforgettable safari experience.
You’ll cover so much ground on this specially designed safari… both throughout the breadth of Kenya and in the parks themselves as you fly to your destinations. Road trips are fun but why drive when you can spend more time in the parks by flying in. Which would you rather do?
You’ll fly in from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the lions, leopards, and elephants of Samburu National Park in just 90 minutes. From there, this fly-in safari will have you winging into the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. All the big cats, plus thousands of grazers fill the picturesque Mara lands.
Then we’ll wrap up with a scenic flight back to Nairobi where you’ll take in the great park and most of Kenya from the air – a perfect way to finish your Africa safari.
From Nairobi to Samburu
We’ll pick you up and bring you to nearby Wilson Airport for the quick trip north to Samburu Park. Enjoy the morning light from the air as you take in Kenya’s fields, forests, and the great form of Mt. Kenya.
You’ll touch down at Samburu where a Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will greet you with a private, open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser. Hop aboard and we’ll get you settled at your Samburu accommodation.
This big park is popular but not overly touristed so you’ll often feel like you’ve got the place to yourself… that is, you and the over 1,000 elephants that roam these broad fields. All the big game make their home here and we’ll be looking for lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and unusual and endangered species like the Beisa oryx, and gerenuk.
Samburu is also home to the Samburu people, indigenous communities closely related to the Maasai. We can visit their villages and learn about their culture firsthand.
On to the Masai Mara
We’ll hop aboard our next plane for the scenic trip flight south to the Masai Mara where our second guide will meet us. It’s a quick run to the great park in our private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser. After freshening up and enjoying lunch, we’ll embark on our first game drive on our four-day span in the park.
The look here is greener than at Samburu and you’ll love the distinctive acacia trees accenting the park’s deep rolling hills. The game sightings will be varied and plentiful as the Mara is known for its many lions, cheetahs, leopards, and other predators.
Have you heard of the Great Migration? If you are here from July through October, you’ll witness incredible hordes of grazers – wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles pouring into the park on their yearly trek for food and water.
Over your four days in the park, you’ll see the wildlife from dozens of viewpoints and learn about this great and active natural environment. And then, we’ll wing back to Nairobi on your final flight enjoying Kenya from the air.

6 Days Samburu & Masai Mara fly-in safari itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi – Samburu (90 Minute Flight)
7:30 Your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver will come by your hotel, residence, or place of your choice for the quick trip to Wilson Airport, and your 8:30 am flight. Settle into your seat for the easy 90-minute trip to Samburu Park.
From the air, take in the fields and homesteads and look for the imposing form of Mt. Kenya, the country’s tallest peak.
You’ll lightly touch down at a convenient airstrip where your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will greet you and load up your bags into a private, open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep for the quick ride to the park.
Day 2
Full-Day at Samburu
We’ll rise early to enjoy the soft morning light bringing the park to life. We’re looking forward to a full day of game drives so talk with your driver/guide about how you’d like to plan your time. You can stay out in the field all day or come back to your accommodation for a little downtime to rest. The choice is yours.
We’ll be tracking for elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and all the other big game that fill this big park. But Samburu is also known for its collection of rare and unusual species like the reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, and Beisa oryx.
We can also explore outside the park at the nearby Shaba and Buffalo Springs Reserves to take in their green fields for a different kind of game drive.
Day 3
Samburu – Masai Mara (1 ½ Hour Flight)
How about one more game drive before breakfast to see which animals we can spot emerging into the day’s soft morning light.
After breakfast at our accommodation, we’ll head back to the airstrip for our 10:30 am flight to the Masai Mara. We’ll say goodbye to our guide but know another Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will be waiting for us when we touch down near the Masai Mara.
Our 90-minute flight will take us over a great stretch of the country and we should see mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance.
Touching down, our new driver/guide will greet us with our second 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. It’s a quick ride to the park and we’ll get settled and enjoy lunch at our new Mara accommodation.
Over the next four days, we’ll explore the park and you can discuss with your guide how you would like to plan your safari here. But now we’re off for our first game drive. The look here contrasts with Samburu – it’s all green rolling hills adorned with stunning acacia trees.
This is a busy reserve with the greatest density of wildlife in this part of Africa. We’ll be looking for prides of lions, cheetahs, elusive leopards, plus elephant, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and antelope.
Day 4
It’s safari time in the great park so that means an early rise to take advantage of the morning light and soak up the peaceful feeling over these rolling savannahs.
As we go on our game drives for these next several days you’ll get a feeling for the park and the areas you’d like to explore or revisit. Just discuss with your guide as he knows the spots to find the wildlife.
But we’ll be on the lookout for large and also small predators like jackals, hyenas, fox, and mongoose.
The presence of the many grazers here can be overwhelming as we explore for gazelle, antelope, topi, and dik-dik. And the park also boasts hundreds of bird species, accenting the plains with their startling colors.
Toward evening, look west for one of the Mara’s glowing sunsets of deep reds, oranges, and purples.
Day 5
Full Day at the Masai Mara
One of the most exciting areas of the Masai Mara to explore is down at the Mara River, site of the animal crossing during the season of the Great Migration, from July through October.
Here you’ll witness thousands of wildebeests, gazelles, zebra, topi, and more just swarming across the river into the park on their annual journey following the availability of taller grasses more food.
The sight can be overwhelming as the hordes of grazers push forward through the river, infested with awaiting crocodiles also drawn to this spot by natural instinct. This veritable flood of wildlife overtakes the park in great trains of animals pushing out to the horizons. It’s known as the largest movement of wildlife on the planet.
It’s a stunning spectacle closeup and perhaps more so from the perch of a hot air balloon. Take advantage of our optional early morning balloon safari, rising with the sun to witness the park and its uncountable inhabitants below playing out the cycles of nature.
For a different kind of safari moment, enjoy an optional visit to a local village. There you’ll meet the Maasai people living as they have for centuries in their pastoral lifestyle. Learn about their lives, culture, and dramatic ceremonies.
Day 6
Masai Mara – Nairobi (1 Hour Flight)
Our final safari morning – let’s revisit some of our favorite spots in the park and then enjoy a big safari breakfast.
We’ll head out to the airstrip to board our plane after goodbyes with our driver/guide. Taking off at 11:15 am we’ll view Kenya from the air with a touch down at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport at 12:15 pm.
