Here’s an incredible combination: two of Kenya’s most popular parks – Masai Mara National Reserve and Amboseli National Park – meet the perfect shores of Diani Beach, voted three times the finest beach in Africa.
Why drive when you can fly to these great parks and have lots more time for your Africa safari. We’ll bring you to nearby Wilson Airport for the quick and scenic flight to the Masai Mara. From there you’ll wing into Amboseli Park with views of Mt. Kilimanjaro on the way. And finally, our last flight brings you to the Kenya Coast, home to spectacular Diani Beach, where you can relax on the sand and trade stories and photos of your six-day safari.
Into the Mara
When you touch down at the world-famous Masai Mara, you’ll get a big greeting from your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide who will bring you to your private open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. And you’re off to the great park.
Over the next four days, you’ll get to know the green rolling hills and expansive savannahs of this iconic park. Known for its prides of lions, cheetahs, and leopard sightings, the reserve is home to all of Africa’s “Big Five”. So, we’ll also be tracking elephant, rhino, and buffalo.
Of course, the park is alive with all manner and variety of grazers – giraffe, antelope, dik-dik, and dozens more. If you’re here during the season of the Great Migration (July – October) get ready to be amazed at the sheer mass of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle pouring into the park over the Mara River. And waiting for them: crocodiles, and all the big cats following their natural instincts in this dramatic spectacle for survival.
The Giants of Amboseli
It’s only a one-hour flight from the Masai Mara to what we call the “giants” of Amboseli Park. Giant Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa, dominates the park and provides a scenic backdrop for the giants parading before it.
We’re speaking of the many free-ranging elephants that populate this compact park. Amboseli is famous for its density of these big-tuskers, so great in number that you’re guaranteed to see them here… early and often.
This popular park thrills safari-goers with sightings of big cats and other large wildlife in addition to all kinds of avian life like cormorants and ostrich.
We’ll be exploring Amboseli over three days and then hop aboard our final scenic flight to the Kenya coast and Diani Beach… where your holiday continues.

6 Days Amboseli & Masai Mara fly-in safari itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi – Masai Mara (1 Hour Flight)
It’s safari time! Your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver will pick you up and transfer you to nearby Wilson Airport for your 10:30 am flight to the Masai Mara.
You’ll soon be sailing over Kenya’s fields and homesteads on the quick and exciting trip to the great park. Touching down at the airstrip you’ll be met by your driver/guide in a private, open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop in and we’ll head to your accommodation to get settled in.
Day 2
Full Day at Masai Mara
Let’s get up early, safari-style, to watch the great park come alive in the morning light. It’s a beautiful and peaceful time of day to appreciate the wildlife emerging into the awakening fields.
The Masai Mara is famous for its many prides of lions and cheetahs, as well as other feline predators like leopards, jackals, and hyenas.
We’ll be tracking for other big game like elephants, buffalo, rhinos, giraffe, and smaller grazers such as antelope, gazelle, and a world of birdlife filling the skies and trees.
You can’t miss the Mara’s fabulous sunsets with their deep glowing bursts of color that fill the horizon.
Day 3
Full Day at Masai Mara
We’ll be up with the birds to explore the park’s many viewing points – your driver/guide is an expert at finding the best spots to find a variety of wildlife.
After breakfast, be sure to go down to the Mara River, site of the animal crossing during the Great Migration (July – October). You may even want to picnic here as you take in the spectacle of wildebeests by the thousands flooding into the park from the neighboring Serengeti on their annual drive in search of food and water.
Awaiting these hordes of grazers, as designed by nature, is a pulsating river teeming with crocodiles, and throughout the park, the big cats in pursuit of their prey.
It’s all a dramatic display of the natural world in a quest for survival and never to be forgotten. If you’d like to view this incredible movement of animals from above, we suggest taking our optional early morning hot air balloon safari.
Rise with the sun to witness the park coming alive as you sail over the infinite trains of wildlife below.
Enjoy another optional activity to enrich your safari – visit a local village to meet the Maasai people and learn about their lifestyle, their customs, and perhaps pick up a beaded souvenir of their handiwork.
Day 4
Masai Mara – Amboseli (1 Hour Flight)
It’s our fourth day at the park and by now you may have some favorite viewing spots you’d like to revisit. The morning is yours to do as you wish.
After lunch, we’ll head back to the airstrip for our 14:00 hrs. (2:00 pm) flight to Amboseli Park.
Four days with your guide and you probably feel like old friends, but now it’s time to say goodbye, as you’ll be meeting your next guide upon landing.
The one-hour scenic flight will offer views of mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro as you approach Amboseli.
After lightly touching down you’ll meet your second driver/guide of the safari who will bring you to another 4 x 4 open-sided Jeep. We’ll head off to the park and freshen up at our Amboseli accommodation.
We’ve got time for a game drive before dinner so let’s set out and see who we can find. It probably won’t take long to spot some of the park’s many free-ranging elephants – this park is famous for sighting them.
Day 5
Full-Day at Amboseli
We’re on safari so it’s an early rise to enjoy the animals as they awaken into the dawning day. You’ll also want to take in the great form of Mt. Kilimanjaro as it dominates the southern view of the park – a perfect backdrop for the wildlife marching before it.
Just like at the Masai Mara, the day is yours to do as you please – go on unlimited game drives or take some time for rest and relaxation at your accommodation.
But now, we want to explore this compact but busy park. Though famous for its elephants, all the big game are seen at Amboseli – we’ll be looking for lion, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, baboon, monkey, warthog… even hippos in the marshes here.
We can drive up Observation Hill for great vistas in all directions – you’ll see the park’s big-tuskers and incredible birdlife below like pelican, ostrich, and the distinctive Egyptian goose.
Toward evening, look toward Kilimanjaro – the clouds covering its snowy peak may part revealing one of Africa’s most beautiful sights.
Day 6
Amboseli – Diani Beach (1 ½ Hour Flight)
Let’s make the most of our last day on safari with an early game drive and then breakfast, enjoying the sights and sounds of the park all around us.
Perhaps there are some special spots you’d like to revisit this morning – just talk with your driver/guide and you can make that happen.
We’ll take lunch at our accommodation and then head to the airstrip for our 15:00 hrs. (3:00 pm) flight from Amboseli to Diani Beach.
This will be our second goodbye as we bid adieu to our guide and hop aboard our plane for the 90-minute flight to the Kenya Coast.
