But we’ve designed a fast flight safari to bring you easily and comfortably right to the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Your adventure starts at nearby Abeid Karume International Airport for the easy 90-minute flight to Nairobi, bringing you to your choice of hotel in the capital city. The next morning, Adventure In The Wild Safaris will transfer you to Wilson Airport for the scenic one-hour flight to the Masai Mara.

Kenya’s Most Popular Park

Your flight will touch down at an airstrip near the park where your driver/guide will welcome you to the Masai Mara. He’ll take your bags, usher you into a private open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep, and we’ll head to the park.

After settling in at your accommodation and perhaps lunch, you’ll be ready to explore this most vibrant ecosystem in the region. The Masai Mara is famous for its array of big cats prowling its rolling hills and deep savannahs. Lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal, hyena… plus the rest of the Big Five – elephant, rhino, and buffalo.

Thousands of Grazers

But just as startling as seeing the big cats in the wild, you’ll be astonished at the variety and numbers of grazing wildlife in the park. Antelope, giraffe, dik-dik and so many others add to the over 95 mammal species here.

And if you’re here during the season of the Great Migration from July through October, you’ll be treated to the sight of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles crossing over the Mara River into the park on their annual pilgrimage for food and water. Waiting for them are crocodiles and the other predators throughout the park playing out this natural spectacle of survival. Truly an unforgettable moment of your Africa safari.

Returning to Zanzibar

Your stay in the park will span three days and when we complete your safari, it’s a quick trip to the airstrip and flight back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. From there we’ll bring you to the Nairobi international airport and your 19:15 hrs (7:15 pm) return flight to Zanzibar. There, an Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver will bring you to your hotel or resort.

Your Guide

For your 4 – day Masai Mara journey you’ll be guided, hosted, and looked after by your own experienced driver/guide.

4 Day Zanzibar-Masai Mara fly-in safari itinerary

Day 1
Zanzibar – Nairobi (1 ½ Hour Flight)

Ready to explore the wildlife of Africa? We’ll pick you up from your hotel or resort for the transfer to Abeid Karume International Airport. Your 16:00 (4:00 pm) flight will offer views of the Indian Ocean and the fields and forests of Kenya.

Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will drive you to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Masai Mara. Your one-hour flight will lift off at 10:30 am for a scenic trip over Kenya’s savannahs, lit by the soft morning light. In no time you’ll land at an airstrip just outside the park where your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will be waiting with a private open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

Day 3
Full Day at the Masai Mara

We’re on safari so let’s rise with the birds and enjoy the morning light on these golden savannahs, complemented with endless, signature acacia trees.

The day is yours, so discuss with your driver/guide what areas you would like to explore. He’s the expert and knows where any particular wildlife is likely to be found.

If you’re here during the Great Migration (July – October), he will likely suggest a visit or even a picnic down by the Mara River. This is the site of an unbelievable influx of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle flooding into the park from the neighboring Serengeti on their annual migration route.

Of course, waiting for these thousands of grazers are the predators – crocodiles in the river and all the big cats throughout the park. This can be a scene of extraordinary drama as each species plays out its role as designed by nature.

For an unforgettable experience of the migration and the park, we offer an optional early morning hot air balloon safari. As the park lights up you’ll rise above the fields and great trains of wildebeests below for thrilling views of the Mara. Not to be missed!

Here’s another opportunity, a cultural moment to enjoy and enrich your safari: take advantage of our optional visit to a local village to meet the Maasai people. Learn about their pastoral lives and their culture; perhaps purchase one of their brightly beaded handicrafts.

Day 4
Masai Mara – Nairobi – Zanzibar
(One Hour Flight to Nairobi & 90 Minute Flight to Zanzibar)

It’s our final safari morning so let’s revisit our favorite areas or perhaps discover a new viewing spot.

After breakfast, we’ll head out to the airstrip for our 11:15 am flight back to Nairobi. As we take off and turn north, we’ll get to view the Masai Mara one final time.
