A naming ceremony for infant gorillas that is held annually and is called “Kwita Izina” was initiated by the park in order to raise awareness about these endeavors and the joys of gorilla safaris. The mountain gorilla newborns who are born throughout the year are given names that are derived from the Rwandan ceremony that is traditionally used for naming human babies.
