Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp is a luxury mobile camp that moves seasonally to take the best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp serves as a base, a springboard for early morning game drives, a place for a sumptuous lunch break, a respite from the heat of the day, and the finale to a day’s adventure where stories are shared around a fire. As a small and intimate camp, the staff are on hand to look after a very limited number of guests, ensuring that the level of attention and service is always excellent.

The camp is not permanent and uses seasonality and possible changing locations within a general area as the most strategic approach, given the migration’s unpredictability but always reachable from the camps. Generally, congested areas are avoided, and with superior knowledge and many years of experience, the camp is located in areas that are less busy but excellent for wildlife.

In June, the camp moves to the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes. Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino Project and, due to permanent water in the area, boasts a large population of lions with densities approaching those of the Seronera area. Unlike Seronera, this area is not congested and is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful, which contributes to the high lion population. The migration may or may not move through Moru in June, as the migration pattern is difficult to predict in advance and depends on weather and water availability for the large herds.

From late December to the end of March, the camp moves to the Ndutu area of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ndutu 2 campsite area offers access to the Serengeti short grass plains during the Great Migration, particularly when wildebeests are calving around mid-February to early March. The lakes provide essential water, attracting game from the surrounding plains for excellent wildlife viewing. The area is also very good for lions, cheetahs, and excellent plains game alongside the migration.
