Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the highest number of black rhinos in East Africa and the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat. All of Africa’s Big Five are found here. In just 2 days you’ll encounter large and small wildlife, common and endangered species alike. This short safari can even be arranged on short notice for a spur-of-the-moment getaway.

On the route to the sanctuary, cross the equator and enjoy views of coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations. Look out for snow-capped Mt. Kenya, the highest peak in the country and second-highest in Africa.

Ol Pejeta is rich in diversity, hosting unique species like Grevy’s zebra, bat-eared fox, reticulated giraffe, white-tailed mongoose, and black-fronted duiker. Big predators are also present, including six prides of lions, cheetahs, and elusive leopards. The park’s grasslands, bush, riverine, and swamp habitats provide endless wildlife viewing opportunities.

Your Guide & Transportation

Day 1: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta (220 km: Approx. 4 Hours)

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

07:30 hrs – Your driver/guide from Adventure In The Wild Safaris will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or Nairobi airport. We’ll head out in our 4 x 4 Jeep for the Ol Pejeta Sanctuary, traveling through Laikipia County toward the Aberdare/Mt. Kenya area and passing numerous farms along the way.

We’ll stop at coffee and tea plantations for a closer look, and time permitting, visit a local market. Our route takes us directly across the equator, and we’ll take a moment to stop and enjoy this unique spot straddling the hemispheres.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta – Nairobi (220 km: Approx. 4 Hours)

We’ll rise with the monkeys, the birds, and whoever else we meet as the morning light spreads over the sanctuary. Later, enjoy breakfast at your accommodation, then continue tracking big game and perhaps spot unusual wildlife like packs of wild African dogs that inhabit the reserve.

We’ll make plans for lunch and then enjoy a final game drive as we head back to Nairobi. We hope you get to check off many species from your wish list during this active and unforgettable 2-day safari adventure.
