3 Days Amboseli National Park Trip
Adventure In The Wild Safaris
Day 1: Journey to Amboseli
We’ll start early – your expert driver/guide from Adventure In The Wild Safaris will pick you up at 7:30 am from your hotel, residence, or airport and begin our journey on the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway. As the day brightens, we’ll pass homesteads and Maasai herders along the way.
Day 2: A Full Day in the Park
We’ll be up early for our first game drive followed by breakfast. Then onto a mid-morning game drive. This will be our pattern for the day – eat, relax, go on a game drive. Repeat. Not a bad way to appreciate the wonders of this rich and diverse park.
If you wish to be even more active – less relaxing time, more game drives – just ask your guide and he will make it happen. At Adventure In The Wild Safaris, our goal is to create the best safari experience for you.
On your game drives through the park, you may notice a unique pyramid-shaped location – this is Observation Hill, the best elevation for vistas of Amboseli. At the summit, you’ll be able to take in the park’s plains, lakes, and stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
This is an ideal place to watch the elephants, buffalo, and hippo foraging in the marshes below. From here you’ll also enjoy the bright diversity of birdlife in the wetlands. Look for pelican, goose, kingfisher, and egret.
Our visit here at Amboseli also provides an opportunity to meet some of the indigenous people of the area. If you’d like, you can take an optional visit to a local Maasai village to learn about their lifestyle and culture. Just ask your guide.
Day 3: Amboseli – Emali Train Station (100 km: Approx. 1.5 hours) – SGR Train to Mombasa
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
More Game Viewing and a Train to the Coast
We’ll enjoy an early safari breakfast and set out for a short final game drive as we exit the park. We have seen much of this popular park, its diverse wildlife environments, and a great display of animals. You can consider yourself an experienced safari-goer!
(Please note that an early short exit game viewing drive is only possible if staying in lodges/tented camps inside the park.)
As we exit the park areas on the way to the train station at Emali, you’ll be seeing your last views of Amboseli. However, on your upcoming train journey, you’ll be passing through both Tsavo West and Tsavo East for more park vistas and possibly wildlife viewing.
Your driver/guide will bring you to the train station at Emali. There, he’ll assist you with tickets and transfer to the Madaraka Express, the new high-speed train to Mombasa and the coast.
Your first-class ticket is included with the tour, so enjoy the comfort of your air-conditioned compartment and reclining seat. The train’s route is positioned higher than the roadway and offers an elevated view of the parks. And with its large windows you’ll enjoy wonderful vistas of the passing landscapes.
There’s also a buffet car for drinks and snacks, and clean restrooms for your convenience. In about 4 ½ hours you’ll arrive at the state-of-the-art train station in Mombasa.
