Tour Overview

The adventure begins at Amboseli National Park with views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and herds of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and waterfowl. Aberdare National Park offers lush rainforest and a unique tree hotel with waterfalls and game viewing from your balcony. Samburu National Reserve provides sightings of Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, and more, alongside cultural visits to local villages. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is famous for its black rhinos and chimpanzee sanctuary. Lake Bogoria boasts birdlife, hot springs, and geysers, while Lake Naivasha offers boat and walking safaris, and cycling at Hell’s Gate National Park. The journey culminates at Masai Mara Game Reserve, home to the Big Five and countless other species.

Your Guide

For the entire 12-day trip, you will be guided, hosted, and cared for by an experienced driver/guide. Transportation between parks and game viewing is in a private pop-top 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Safari customization and special requests can be arranged to fulfill your wishes.

12-Day Magical Kenya Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli (250 km – Approx. 3-4 hrs drive)

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

0730hrs: You shall be collected from your Nairobi hotel or Nairobi airport to begin your safari adventure.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy a full day of game viewing drives, taking in the magnificent scenery and allowing time for relaxation. Early morning and mid-morning drives, followed by a comfortable lunch, precede the afternoon game drive. Between drives, relax at your lodge or camp. Your safari vehicle and driver/guide are at your disposal for unlimited wildlife viewing.

Day 3: Amboseli – Aberdares National Park (410 km – Approx. 8 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Depart Amboseli and drive to Aberdares National Park, stopping for lunch at Blue Post Hotel, Thika. Transfer to your unique tree lodge accommodation.

Day 4: Aberdares – Samburu (250 km – Approx. 4 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Proceed to Samburu National Reserve. View Mount Kenya along the route and experience local homesteads. Afternoon game viewing drives across Samburu, Shaba, and Buffalo Springs reserves.

Day 5: Full Day Samburu National Reserve

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Unlimited game viewing along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Expect to see lions, Grevy’s zebra, cheetahs, buffalo, elephants, oryx, reticulated giraffes, Somali ostriches, and more.

Day 6: Samburu – Ol Pejeta (180 km – Approx. 3 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early morning game drive at Samburu, then transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia region. Afternoon game drives with opportunities to view rhinos and chimpanzees.

Day 7: Ol Pejeta – Lake Bogoria (230 km – Approx. 6 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Depart Ol Pejeta for Lake Bogoria to witness the hot springs, geysers, and (seasonally) thousands of flamingos.

Day 8: Lake Bogoria – Lake Naivasha (160 km – Approx. 3 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

At Lake Naivasha, enjoy a boat safari viewing hippos, birds, and small game, followed by a guided walking safari on Crescent Island. In the afternoon, explore Hell’s Gate National Park on bicycles or on foot, spotting zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife.

Day 9: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara (240 km – Approx. 4.5 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Drive through the scenic Rift Valley to Masai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch, freshen up, and proceed for an afternoon game drive.

Day 10: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Full Day

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

Experience a full day of unlimited game drives across the Mara, encountering the Big Five and numerous other species. Visit the Mara River to observe hippos, crocodiles, or the Great Migration (July–October).

Day 11: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Full Day

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Spend an extra day in the Masai Mara for more game viewing. Optional activities include a Masai village cultural visit or a hot air balloon ride (extra fee applies).

Day 12: Masai Mara – Nairobi (265 km – Approx. 5-6 hrs)

Early morning game viewing drives at the Masai Mara. Depart for Nairobi with a lunch stop along the way. Arrival in Nairobi is approximately 4:30 pm.
