Few descriptions can match the boundless wonder of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The park is a diverse ecosystem of rolling savannah and unlimited wildlife. It is home to the Great Migration – over a million wildebeest, zebra, topi, and eland cross into the Mara from the Serengeti from July through October.

Expect to view great numbers and variety of wildlife on your many game drives in the park.

Day 2 – Masai Mara

Today, you’ll have the entire day for game drives and other optional activities throughout the reserve. Here, you’ll be watching for the Big Five, plus giraffe, cheetah, gazelle, hyena, jackal and of course the endless parade of the Great Migration.

Down at the Mara River, site of the migration crossing, you’ll see hippos and crocodiles waiting for their prey. You’ll be able to enjoy as many game drives through the park as you desire – the great varieties of landscape and wildlife here are endlessly fascinating. And you are guaranteed a window seat in your safari vehicle!

If you wish, you can visit with a Maasai tribe to learn about their culture and ancient herding lifestyle. Also available – take an optional, early morning hot air balloon excursion over the Mara to see the reserve and the wildlife awakening.

Day 3 – Masai Mara / Nairobi / Diani Beach

We’ll enjoy more game drives this morning before departing the park. On route back to Nairobi, we’ll also have a relaxing lunch stop.

Then from Nairobi, it’s a quick afternoon flight back to Mombasa – one final opportunity to view the fields and hills of Kenya from the air. And then we will transfer you back to your beach hotel.

Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza!

Masai Mara Game Reserve remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the natural world. It hosts the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region.

The scenic appeal of the tree-studded savannah plains, moderate climate, and diversity of wild game species makes it a one-stop shop for game viewing activities.

We shall traverse the Masai Mara reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing, encountering the Big Five and many other species.

You will visit the Mara River where you may watch hippos and crocodiles — or witness the Great Migration during the July – October season.

Day 3: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI

Distance: 265 km (Approx. 5–6 hrs)
Meal Plan: Breakfast

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp, your dedicated driver guide will assist with checkout and begin the journey to Nairobi – Kenya’s vibrant capital city.

On the way, your guide will point out Mount Longonot, an extinct stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. It is believed to have last erupted in the 1860s. The name comes from the Maasai word “Oloonong’ot,” meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges.”

Optional: Drive via Naivasha for lunch or excursions (at extra cost), or continue to Nairobi and stop at Kiambethu Tea Farm for a tea farm tour with a three-course buffet lunch (at extra cost).

Later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight back home.
