You’ll get to your safari destinations twice as fast on Adventure In The Wild Safaris’ 4-day fly and drive tour from the Kenya Coast. The lit landscapes below on your early morning flight from Mombasa will preview the excitement of game drives through two of Kenya’s most popular parks.

The Masai Mara is known throughout the world for its rolling savannahs, flat-topped acacia trees and streaming wildlife throughout the reserve. Lake Nakuru is a bird lovers’ paradise with its many species including pelicans and a virtual sea of pink flamingos.

You’ll catch the sunrise on your morning flight from the coast to the capital city of Nairobi. There you’ll be met by your driver/guide and head out in a safari vehicle with views of the central Kenyan highlands. The Masai Mara beckons!

Nothing quite compares with the first views of the Masai Mara National Reserve with its vast grassland and massive herds of migrating wildlife. In season, the Great Migration presents the largest movement of animals on the planet. Well over a million grazing wildebeest and zebra herd in from the Serengeti to the Mara in an awe-inspiring display of the natural order.

Over your 3-day visit here, you’ll stay in one of the many lodges or tented camps of your choice.

Day 2 – Masai Mara

This will be a very full day exploring the reserve and its boundless wildlife. On your many game drives, you’ll be on the lookout for lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. Plus, cheetah, giraffe, gazelle, topi and the immense herds snaking into the distance that make up the spectacle of this greatest migration.

At the Mara River we will observe hippos and crocodiles as they engage with the vast streams of wildlife crossing the river.

Along with the game drives, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in several optional activities:

• Masai village visit – meet and interact with local inhabitants ($25 per person)
• Hot air balloon excursion over the awakening Mara – a spectacular view of the landscape and wildlife ($460 per person)

Day 3 – Masai Mara / Lake Nakuru

We will welcome the dawn with an early game drive and then depart the Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park. This is a beautiful park with towering escarpments, acacia forest and a great assortment of wildlife, including Rothschild’s giraffe.

Here too is a rhino sanctuary where you’ll get to see both black and white rhinos. Guaranteed!

We will spend the evening here in the lodge or tented camp of your choice.

Day 4 – Lake Nakuru / Nairobi / Kenya Coast

Get ready for another early morning game and bird viewing drive. Lake Nakuru is the place to view hundreds of bird species and especially the thousands of bright flamingos blanketing the edges of the contrasting deep blue lake.

But also stay alert for lion, leopard, ostrich, giraffe and the many others that populate this beautiful park.

Along our safari travels we will also stop to view the lakes at Naivasha and Elementaita as well as the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Now it’s time to head back to Nairobi and the short flight returning you to your coastal resort. In just four days you’ve seen and experienced much of the land and wildlife that makes Kenya so special.

4 Days, Fly & Drive Tour Itinerary

Day 1: MOMBASA fly NAIROBI – MASAI MARA (265 km – Approx. 6 hrs)

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

• Early pick up from your Diani beach resort and transfer to Mombasa airstrip.
• 0530hrs: Depart on Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi.
• 0630hrs: Arrival in Nairobi.
• Meet at the Nairobi airport by your safari vehicle.
• The scenic drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve is via the central Kenya highlands with views of subsistence crop plantations and local homesteads.

Day 2: FULL DAY – MASAI MARA

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza!

Masai Mara Game Reserve remains the most exciting wildlife ecosystem in the natural world. It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region.

The scenic appeal of the tree-studded savannah plains, the moderate climate, and diversity of wild game species makes it a one-stop shop for game viewing activities.

We shall traverse the Masai Mara Reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing, encountering the Big Five and more of the lesser game.

We shall visit the Mara River where we may watch hippos & crocodiles, or maybe even witness the Great Migration (July – October).

Day 3: MASAI MARA – LAKE NAKURU (285 km – Approx. 6-7 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Last day at Masai Mara Game Reserve.
• Morning game viewing drive at dawn to catch the sunrise and wildlife.
• Later, depart the Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park.
• Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in the mid-morning.
• A short bird and game viewing drive around the lake.

Day 4: LAKE NAKURU – NAIROBI (160 km – Approx. 3 hrs)

Today begins with an early morning game and bird viewing drive.

Lake Nakuru National Park is an ornithologist’s and game viewer’s haven.

• Hundreds of thousands of flamingos canopy the shallow edges of the alkaline lake.
• Pelicans and hundreds of other bird species shall also be seen.
• The park hosts both black and white rhino in its sanctuary.
• Lion, warthog, antelope, baboon, and many other animal species are also spotted in the park.
