Selous Kulinda Camp

Located just three miles outside the Mtemere Gate of the Nyerere National Park, the Selous Kulinda Camp lies in tranquil settings along the banks of the Rufiji River. The camp is unfenced which allows guests to feel fully submerged in nature, with the chance for animals to wander through the grounds at night. The staff is friendly, many having worked there since the Camp was established, and the decor embraces classic African themes. There is a small swimming pool on the grounds where clients can simply unwind and cool down after a busy day on safari.

The dining area, lounge and rustic bar are all located in the main area, the latter set up on a beautiful stone deck, offering refreshments amid classic sounds of the bush at night. Guests can enjoy their meals in the main dining area or al fresco at their tent, if weather permits. Accommodation options include standard and deluxe tents, and activities guests can enjoy during their stay at Selous Kulinda Camp include safari drives, bush walks and cultural visits.

Location

The Selous Kulinda Camp is located around three miles away from the Mtemere Gate of the Nyerere National Park in Tanzania’s southern safari region. Guests will take a 70-minute flight from Dar es Salaam to the Mtemere Airstrip and then enjoy a 20-minute game drive transfer to the Camp.

Rooms / Tents

The eight Standard and Deluxe tents located at the Selous Kulinda Camp are spacious and beautifully appointed, with slate flooring and tall, canvas ceilings and walls. They can accommodate either couples or families in either King beds or Twin beds. There is white mosquito netting with orange trim draped over the beds, a fan, a sitting area and a small writing desk and chair. All tents are en-suite with a shower, toilet and vanity present, plus bathroom amenities for guests to use during their stay. The Deluxe tents have a private plunge pool on the deck for guests to enjoy.

Game Viewing / Activities

While 4×4 safari drives remain the most popular activity for guests during their stay at the Selous Kulinda Camp, guided bush walks will introduce guests to the smaller wonders of the bush. Guests can enjoy a boat safari or go tiger fishing. Boarding a boat ride along the Rufiji River offers incredible game viewing. Visiting local communities is a wonderful way to learn about the rich traditions and cultures of tribes in the area.
