Kirurumu Manyara Lodge

Located in the region of the Great Rift Valley near Lake Manyara, Kirurumu Manyara Lodge in Tanzania is perched high on a ridge. The position of the lodge offers spectacular panoramic views over Lake Manyara, Lake Losimingori, and the Rift floor. Birdlife is incredible in this area and guests will hear calls throughout the day.

The main area is all wood, beams, and thatch, with an inviting reception area and comfortable lounge. The stone-walled semi-circle bar has a large deck that overlooks the Valley and out to the distant mountains, with seating provided and a crackling campfire at night. Solid wooden tables are set up in the dining area and out on the deck for the choice of outdoor dining. Meals are carefully created with local ingredients and offer guests a mix of local and international cuisine.

Guests can enjoy a massage during their stay and spend time browsing the gift shop on-site. There is a refreshing swimming pool located at Kirurumu Manyara Lodge, the perfect way to cool down in between safaris and excursions.

Location

Kirurumu Manyara Lodge is located in the Great Rift Valley region near Lake Manyara and is a 90-minute drive away from the Lake Manyara Airstrip. A flight from Arusha will take approximately half an hour, with flights from Kilimanjaro Airport lasting approximately 40 minutes. If guests want to drive from Arusha, the journey could take up to three hours.

Rooms / Tents

There are 31 luxury cottages located at Kirurumu Manyara Lodge with 27 Tented Cottages, two Honeymoon Suites, and two Family Cottages. Each room has canvas walls and ceiling with a screeded floor, either a double bed or two single beds set up in the room, all covered in mosquito netting. There is a small writing desk and chair with a small sitting area and a private verandah offering captivating views.

There is WiFi available and guests will pre-order their tea or coffee, to be presented with an early morning wake-up call. The bathrooms are all en-suite, with a toilet, vanity, and shower plus bathroom amenities for guests to use during their stay.

Game Viewing / Activities

The morning and afternoon game drives are popular with guests staying at Kirurumu Manyara Lodge, with the option of an exciting night drive in the Lake Manyara National Park. Guests can watch big cats at play in search of their prey, and even catch a glimpse of the famous tree-climbing lions. Bird watching is fantastic and seeing the pink flamingos is a sight to behold.

Guests can enjoy a hot air balloon ride over the Lake and Park or enjoy a mountain biking adventure, trekking or hiking, or a walking safari with a qualified guide. Guests can spend a night ‘fly-camping’, sleeping out under the stars (on request). For a cultural experience, a visit to the local Mto wa Mbu community can be arranged.
