Mara Under Canvas

Capture the sheer beauty of the Northern Serengeti when staying at Mara Under Canvas. This luxury mobile camp offers unforgettable memories of a safari through the Serengeti plains from June to November. Comfortable tents include private verandahs where guests can absorb the sights and sounds of the surrounding wilderness. Meals are served fine-dining style either in the dining tent or out in the bush upon arrangement.

Each evening, a campfire is lit and guests are welcome to gather around the crackling flames to share stories of their adventures. Guests may also relax in the cozy lounge and tented bar area. Located near the banks of the Mara River, game viewing is superb year-round, with an excellent chance to witness the Great Migration in July and October.

Location

Mara Under Canvas is situated in the Mara Triangle region of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Guests typically fly from Arusha Airport to the Kogatende Airstrip, a one-hour flight, followed by a half-hour drive to the camp. Overland travel from Arusha can take 8–10 hours depending on the camp’s seasonal location.

Rooms / Tents

The camp consists of 11 luxury tents, each privately placed with a verandah overlooking the wilderness. There are 10 Standard Tented Suites with king-size beds and one Family Tent with two en-suite bedrooms separated by a shared lounge and verandah.

Decor follows a classic African safari style with crisp white linens, vibrant pillows, and ambient lighting. Each tent has mosquito netting, a wardrobe, and a small sitting area. Bathrooms are en-suite with a shower, vanity, and toilet, and include modern amenities. In-tent dining is also available.
