The Red Pepper House is covered by a gigantic Makuti roof tastefully designed and covering the main public areas. There is a comfortable lounge area and friendly bar, with a beautiful swimming pool on the grounds offering a refreshing way to end a busy day of activities in the area.
From Dhow boat rides to decorating yourself with a henna tattoo or learning to speak Swahili, there are many activities on offer for guests staying at The Red Pepper House to enjoy.
Location
The Red Pepper House is located in the northeast corner of beautiful Lamu Island on Kenya’s eastern coastline. Guests fly from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta or Wilson Airports to Manda Airport, with the flight taking approximately one hour followed by a short boat ride to Lamu and the Red Pepper House.
Rooms / Tents
There are only five gorgeous “Nyumbas” or houses at The Red Pepper House. They are spacious and bright, featuring beautiful decor and fresh linens. Each unit has Makuti-covered seating and a veranda. Inside, large wooden ceiling beams complement the large bed or two single beds, all covered with mosquito nets. Each room includes a safe, hanging space for clothes, and a minibar.
Guests are gifted with a kikoy during their stay and provided with flip-flops to enjoy the private boma area with beach sand and lush surroundings. The en-suite bathrooms feature a large indoor shower and an outdoor African shower beside a large Acacia tree. Bathrobes, fluffy towels, a hairdryer, and modern bathroom amenities are also provided.

Game Viewing / Activities
With an array of watersports and activities, guests at The Red Pepper House can enjoy a Dhow boat cruise at sunset, snorkeling, and traditional fishing excursions. Boat rides to the 14th-century Takwa ruins of Lamu and trips through mangrove channels provide cultural and natural exploration opportunities.
Birdwatching is excellent on Lamu Island, and other unique activities include Swahili language classes, cooking classes, henna tattoos, and photography sessions.
