The wonderful Ngorongoro Safari Lodge offers guests a chance to experience a luxury tented safari on an intimate level, in an incredible location. With a central public tent set up with dark wooden dining tables, dark leather chairs, and solid dark wood, meals are served either inside or out on the deck.

The African-themed bar is in one corner and a friendly reception area is nearby. Guest tents are set off the ground, with an impressive staircase leading up to the tent’s private deck. A small table and chair are set up on the deck and guests can look out over the surrounding wilderness. Guests can sit around a campfire at night and share stories about the day’s adventure.

Location

The Ngorongoro Safari Lodge is located in Tanzania’s Karatu area, near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Flights from Arusha Airport to Lake Manyara will take approximately 30 minutes and guests are then driven a short six miles to the Lodge. A drive from Arusha will take around two and a half hours.

Rooms / Tents

There are 10 Luxury Tented Dome-shaped tents located at Ngorongoro Safari Lodge. These elongated tented suites are beautifully set up with a king-size bed or two twin beds, mosquito nets falling over the four-poster beds.

There is a small sitting area in the tent, and a small writing desk and chair. Bright, glass-covered lights hang from the ceiling near the beds and a neutral-colored rug covers the wooden floor. There is a tea/coffee-making station, a space to hang clothing, and a safe for guests to store their valuables. Bathrooms are all en-suite with a double vanity, toilet, and shower, plus the use of refreshing bathroom amenities.

Game Viewing / Activities

Game drives in the famous Ngorongoro Crater are the most popular activities for guests staying at the Ngorongoro Safari Lodge, and walking safaris in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are a wonderful way to get close to the incredible flora and fauna in the area. A hot air balloon will have guests soaring above the incredible Crater, a wonderful way to look out for wildlife.

Guests can enjoy a visit to the Olduvai Gorge or a cultural excursion to a Maasai village and market nearby. Hiking to Lake Eyasi will give guests a chance to meet and embrace the culture of the Hadzabe tribe, said to be one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in the world.
