Nasikia Migration Camp

A safari experience with a difference, the Nasikia Migration Camp offers guests the chance to immerse themselves into the magnificent wilderness of the Serengeti National Park through a mobile camping adventure. Between June and October, the Camp is located at Kogatende in the Serengeti’s northern region, the prime position for guests to have a chance to witness the Great Migration. Thousands of wildebeest cross the Mara River, between Kenya and Tanzania, the ‘main event’ taking place between mid-July and mid-September each year.

The main tent is large with tall canvas roofing and has a dining area and chairs set up for guests to enjoy meals and take some time out in between game drives. Colorful tablecloths and cushions highlight Swahili culture and break the dark greens and beiges of the mess tent.

There is an attractive wooden bar set up in the corner and outside, a fire pit where guests can gather in the evening, nightcap in hand. The power throughout the Camp is battery and solar-powered and the 10 tented suites are privately set up comprising all the comforts guests may need at this moving, stylish safari experience.

Location

Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp is set up in the Kogatende region of the northern Serengeti National Park between June and October and can be accessed by the Kogatende Airstrip which is a 45-minute drive from the Camp. Flights from Arusha will take approximately one hour, a drive of around five to six hours.

The Camp is then moved to the Ngorongoro Crater, from December to March, where guests would fly into the Ndutu Airstrip.

Rooms / Tents

Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp comprises 10 mobile tented suites, a unique safari accommodation experience that moves with the animals’ migration. Location is key and each tent is neatly set up with a focus on ensuring there is limited impact on the environment.

Each tent is 40 feet long by 13 feet wide and boasts canvas walls and roofing, covered in shade cloth to keep guests cool under the warm Tanzanian sun. A small outside sitting area has chairs and side tables present, perfect for relaxing in between game drives. Mosquito netting covers the front of the tent and inside guests will find beautifully crafted furniture, large netted windows on each side, comfortable bedding covered with a mosquito net with a luggage rack, and lamps completing the decor.

Bedding can be configured into Double, Twin, Single, and Triple and there is a Quad tent that can accommodate a family of four. All tents present African-inspired tones with white linen and colorful throw cushions, bedspreads, and rugs to add that splash of brightness. There is a tea/coffee-making station, desk, umbrella, flashlight, and two-way radio. Guests will find the safety deposit box located in the bathroom area.

The en-suite bathroom contains a vanity, toilet, mirror and natural bathroom amenities for guests to use during their stay. The shower is unique in that guests are given a 4-gallon “bucket shower” erected on a pulley, which is filled with hot water when the guest is ready to shower.
