7 days gives us lots of time to enjoy an easy-paced safari, great for the whole family. We’ll start this special tour on the first-class train, Madaraka Express, whisking us to Amboseli National Park, where your driver/guide will meet you in your private 4 x 4 Jeep. You’ll immediately be struck by views of Africa’s tallest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro, which stands sentinel over the park. And you won’t be able to miss the massive herds of elephants parading by. Amboseli Park is busy with plentiful sightings.

Your Africa safari next ventures through the Great Rift Valley and a stop at Lake Naivasha for a boat safari, sailing past hippos and viewing small game along the shore. We’ll also take a guided walking safari at nearby Crescent Island Sanctuary past grazing zebra, buffalo, and giraffe. Hell’s Gate National Park is a short bicycle ride from there, providing closeup views of the varied wildlife.

Next in the Rift Valley is Lake Nakuru National Park, home to many protected black and white rhinos. This pretty park features waterfalls, acacia forest, dramatic rocky escarpments, and abundant birdlife including pelicans, cormorants, ostriches, and pink flamingoes. Optional: Lake Bogoria National Reserve for larger flocks of flamingoes.

On day 5, we arrive at the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Over 3 days and 2 nights, enjoy numerous game drives searching for the big game in this vast, densely populated ecosystem.

Your Guide

7 Days, Amboseli – Lakes Naivasha – Nakuru – Masai Mara Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Mombasa – Emali Station – Amboseli

Distance: 100 km – Approx. 1.5 hrs. drive | Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

We’ll pick you up early from your Kenya beach hotel or residence and bring you to the Mombasa Railway Station. At 08:00 hrs, depart Mombasa for Emali (near Amboseli Park) on the new Madaraka Express. Enjoy scenic views while passing through Tsavo East & West National Parks and perhaps spot some wildlife. Arrive at Emali Train Station at 10:52 hrs, where your safari driver/guide will meet you and bring you to Amboseli National Park.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We’ll enjoy plenty of game drives today along with relaxation time as you choose. Begin the day with an early morning game drive to see the park come alive. Breakfast at the lodge/camp follows, then another game drive to spot elephants, buffalo, hippos, and more. Afternoon at leisure or continue game drives. Check out Observation Hill for panoramic views and wildlife spotting.

Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha

Distance: 340 km – Approx. 6 hrs | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early breakfast followed by a short game drive as we exit Amboseli. Travel through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. After lunch, enjoy a boat safari on freshwater Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippos and birdlife. Take a guided walking safari at Crescent Island Sanctuary to see zebra, buffalo, giraffe, and impala grazing nearby.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru

Distance: 80 km – Approx. 1 hr | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early morning bicycle ride to Hell’s Gate National Park to see antelope, buffalo, giraffe, and zebra. Then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Spot diverse birdlife including kingfishers, ostriches, herons, eagles, and flamingoes. The park also hosts predators like lion and leopard, along with endangered black and white rhinos.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara

Distance: 285 km – Approx. 6-7 hrs | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early morning game drive at Nakuru before departing for Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. Enjoy the rolling hills, golden plains, and iconic acacia trees. Spot wildlife in its natural setting, from predators to grazers.

Day 6: Full Day – Masai Mara

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early morning game drive in the Masai Mara. Witness one of the densest concentrations of wildlife, including the Big Five and abundant lions. During the Great Migration (July–October), see vast herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle streaming across the Mara River. Optional activities: Visit a local Maasai village to learn about their culture, or take a hot air balloon ride at dawn for a breathtaking view of the park.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Distance: 265 km – Approx. 6 hrs | Meal Plan: Breakfast

After breakfast, check out and drive to Nairobi. On the way, view Longonot extinct volcano in the Great Rift Valley. Optional: stop at Naivasha for lunch/excursions or Kiambethu farm for a tea tour with buffet lunch. Proceed to Nairobi for hotel drop-off or transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure.
