Safari Overview
Road and Rail Safari – from wildlife & savannah to the Kenya Coast beaches. Starts Nairobi / Ends Mombasa and beach areas – We’ll pick you up from the Nairobi airport or your hotel. Travel comfortably in your own 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep, then finish your tour on a smooth train ride to the coast.
This relaxed 6-day safari takes you through four fantastic wildlife parks, from the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro to Tsavo West, a lush private sanctuary at Taita Hills, and the red-dust elephants of Tsavo East, ending at the pristine beaches of Kenya.
Your tour starts at Amboseli Park, famous for its concentrated population of elephants and postcard views of nearby Mt. Kilimanjaro. At Tsavo West, we track the Big Five and especially rhinos at the sanctuary. Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is compact but promises sightings of over 50 species of large mammals. Tsavo East is home to predators and its legendary history of man-eaters.
If you have preferences for more time in a park or special requests, we’ll customize your safari just for you.
Note: You may choose to continue your journey from Tsavo East to Mombasa by safari vehicle if preferred.

Your 6-Day Amboseli/Tsavo West/Taita Hills/Tsavo East Road & Rail safari includes park entrance fees, game drives, accommodations, and meals. Adventure In The Wild Safaris always offers a wide choice of accommodations. Depending on your budget and style, choose from economy, comfort, or luxury safari lodges or tented camps.

Your Guide & Transportation
For your 6-day journey, you’ll be guided, hosted, and looked after by your own experienced driver/guide. Transportation between parks and game viewing will be in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep – the safari standard with higher seating and rugged all-wheel drive.
First Class train tickets from Tsavo East to Mombasa are included, as is transfer to your hotel or resort.

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Distance: 250 km – approx. 3-4 Hrs drive
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
0700hrs: We’ll start early on the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway, past golden fields and farmlands. Your driver/guide from Adventure In The Wild Safaris will chat about the sights along the way and answer any questions about your upcoming journey. Drive via open Africa with expansive savannah plains dotted with local homesteads and colorful Maasai tribesmen and their cattle.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The park offers wildlife such as wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, with special focus on lion and cheetah. Travel through wetlands, savannah, woodlands, and thorn-bush country. Enjoy multiple game drives with time for relaxation at your lodge or tented camp. Optional visit to a local Maasai village to learn about their nomadic culture. As we depart Amboseli, take a last glance at Kilimanjaro, weather permitting.
Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park
Distance: 100 km – Approx. 2 Hrs
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning game viewing in Amboseli, possible Mount Kilimanjaro views. Drive to Tsavo West with possible wildlife sightings en route. Explore Tsavo West home to Africa’s Big Five plus giraffe, impala, dik-dik, baboon, and monkey. Visit Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary to spot shy black rhinos. Discover volcanic cones, lava beds, rolling plains, and the lush Mzima Springs with aquatic life, hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.
Day 4: Tsavo West – Taita Hills Game Sanctuary

Morning game drives in Tsavo West with a visit to Mzima Springs before heading to Taita Hills. This verdant private sanctuary offers excellent game viewing and birdwatching. Rangers know the locations of larger animals, making it possible to spot over a dozen species on a single drive.
Day 5: Taita Hills – Tsavo East
Distance: Approx. 50 km – 1.5 hrs
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning game drive in Taita Hills before traveling to Tsavo East. Observe the famous red-dust elephants rolling in the rusty soil. Opportunity to see Big Five species including black rhino, Cape buffalo, and leopard. Track the legendary maneless Tsavo lions. Visit Aruba Dam, a life-giving oasis attracting thousands of animals for wildlife viewing.
Day 6: Tsavo East – Mombasa / Kenya Coast

One final game drive in Tsavo East before heading to Voi train station for a scenic trip to the Kenya coast. The train route passes through parts of Tsavo East, providing more opportunities to view wildlife. Enjoy the comfort of the air-conditioned train as you travel to Mombasa and the coast.
