Nairobi – Amboseli – Tsavo West – Tsavo East – Coast Safari
Tour Operator: Adventure In The Wild Safaris
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Distance: 250 km – approx. 3/4 Hrs drive
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
0700hrs: Depart from your Nairobi city hotel. The morning road journey is partly via the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
We’ll start your holiday early traversing the Kenyan countryside on the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway, on our way to Amboseli National Park.
The early morning light over the passing African farms is a preview of the colours and landforms to come.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We’ll enjoy the day with many game drives throughout the park. Up early, we’ll head out before anyone has had their breakfast – you or the animals!
Following breakfast, we’ll again jump into our Jeep for a mid-morning game drive. We’ll be seeing elephants, of course, but also be on the lookout for lion, cheetah, buffalo, impala, Masai giraffe, wildebeest and many others.
Lunch will follow, and then it’s either relaxation time or another game drive – your choice. Throughout the day you can design your safari experience to what suits you best.
While at Amboseli you can enjoy an optional excursion to a local Masai Village to learn about this indigenous culture and meet members of the tribe.
Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park
Distance: 100km – Approx. 2 Hrs
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This is our last day at Amboseli and with luck, the early morning clouds will part revealing Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak.
We’ll go on one final game drive before departing for Tsavo West National Park. It’s only a short 2-hour drive with the added bonus of more game viewing on the way.
In no time we’ll be traveling through Tsavo West’s panoramic savannah and green hill country. This is the land of Africa’s “Big Five”, so we’ll be exploring for Tsavo lions, lots of elephants, leopards and many other hunters and grazers.
Tsavo West also harbors a protective sanctuary for the endangered rhino. We’ll make a visit and hopefully “catch” some of these shy creatures.
We’ve got lots more to see at the park, so we’re off for another adventurous game drive! We’ll rumble over the rugged hills and savannah here searching for the park’s bountiful wildlife.
You may be surprised as we come upon the cool, green pools of Mzima Springs, an unexpected oasis of hippo, crocodile, exotic fish and aquatic birds.
There’s even an underwater hippo-viewing chamber to watch their slow-motion water ballet!
Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Now it’s time to head to Tsavo East National Park and take in the landscapes, with animal watching along the way.
This park is also famous for its elephants… only these giants parade about with a fine coat of red dust – a result of rolling about in the red-oxide soil of the park.
We’re certain to see all sorts of wildlife at the watering holes of Mudanda Rock and Aruba Dam, a draw for hundreds, if not thousands, of elephants and other animals.
Day 5: Tsavo East – Kenya Coast
Our last day of safari! We’ll celebrate our final day on safari with an early morning game drive watching the sun come over the rugged terrain of Kenya’s largest park.
It’s been an exciting 5 days, but it’s not over yet. We’ll enjoy more game viewing as we exit the park on our way to the train station at Voi for your trip to the Kenya coast.
And on the way there you’ll be traveling through parts of Tsavo East, so you’ll have more opportunities to view the park and possibly some wildlife.
At the train station, your driver/guide will assist you with tickets and transfer to the Madaraka Express, the new high-speed train to Mombasa and the coast.
