Mawe Tented Camp

Situated in a prime game-viewing location in the heart of the Serengeti, the Mawe Tented Camp is a semi-permanent tented camp presenting 12 semi-luxury tents all with amazing views over the surrounding savannah and the Ngarenanyuki River. The main tent has a small library set up and comfortable seating, the dining table and couches are built with solid wood, all plumped up with comfortable cushions. Meals are served in the dining area of the main tent or out on the deck.

Guests can enjoy a campfire at night where stories of the day are shared with each other, the quiet night sounds of the bush in harmony with the crackle of the fire. The entire camp is powered by solar making Mawe Tented Camp extremely eco-friendly. Activity-wise, apart from regular game drives, there are balloon rides and guided bush walks.

Location

Mawe Camp is located in the Central-Eastern part of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Guests will fly into Seronera from Arusha, a one-hour scenic flight. From here, guests are transferred by road to the Camp, a half-hour drive through the Serengeti.

Rooms / Tents

There are 12 semi-luxury tents set out overlooking the savannah of the central Serengeti, all opening up to a covered deck area where tables and chairs are set out for guests to enjoy the surrounding bush. Nine tents can be configured as Double or Twin tents, with either one large king bed or two smaller beds made up according to the guests’ preferences. There are three Family tents which comprise two ensuite rooms.

Furniture is bold, made out of dark woods and set upon dark wooden floors, mosquito netting elaborately falling over the bed posts. There is a chest in the room, a writing desk and chair, and space to hang your clothing. All tents are en-suite with a toilet, shower and vanity, with modern bathroom amenities to use during your stay.

Game Viewing / Activities

Game drives will take place each day in 4×4 vehicles, with early morning starts and late afternoon drives. Guests can enjoy a hot air balloon ride over the captivating Serengeti and bird watchers will love spending time in this region with a wide variety of birdlife to be seen in the area. With Mawe Tented Camp located in the Lobo region and main corridor of the Great Migration crossing, guests may be in for a wonderful surprise during their stay during July and August or late September or October.
