Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp

Nestled in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area lies the stunning and elegant Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp. A truly ideal location with regards to entering the famous Ngorongoro Crater, just 15 minutes away, the Camp offers a safari adventure and luxury wilderness escape to all who choose to stay there.

The main tented area boasts a cozy lounge with comfortable seating as well as a small bar set up in the corner, with local artwork hanging from the canvas walls. Dining takes place inside or out on a deck, with individual tables covered with white tablecloths and set with classic crockery and cutlery.

Guests can enjoy a picnic on safari and at night, gather around a crackling campfire where they can share stories of their day on safari and cultural encounters they may have experienced during their stay. Accommodation comprises 10 luxury tented suites, all privately spaced on the Camp’s grounds and all decorated with local flare and comfort.

Location

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp stands on the rim of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, a 15-minute drive from the Crater’s entrance gate. Guests can fly from Arusha Airport to the Lake Manyara Airstrip, a flight time of 30 minutes, and from there, the drive to the Camp will be around two and a half hours. A drive from Arusha will take around four hours.

Rooms / Tents

There are 10 Luxury Tented Suites located at the Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp, all set up with a small verandah with a small table and chair provided, the perfect spot to enjoy the early morning coffee or tea that is brought to your tent.

Inside the tents have a king-size bed or are twin-bedded, with crisp linens on the beds with a splash of orange color in the bed throws and cushions. There is a small writing desk and chair in the room plus a safe for guests to store their valuables during their stay. The bathrooms are all en-suite with a vanity, toilet, and hot shower, and electricity is supplied by a generator and inverter battery system. Bathroom amenities are supplied for guests to use during their stay.

Game Viewing / Activities

The key activity for guests staying at the Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is a full-day safari in the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, an incredible experience of wildlife wonder. Witness the ‘Big Five’ animals such as lions and elephants roam the dramatic landscape and enjoy a picnic lunch while watching hippos play in a small dam.

Guests can also visit Lake Manyara around two hours away or the Olduvai Gorge which is an hour and forty-five minutes’ drive from the Camp. Walking safaris at Empakai Crater or a visit to a local community will ensure guests have an opportunity to embrace local culture, and natural beauty and create a lifetime of memories.
