Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

This privately-owned reserve offers over 50 species of large mammals like lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. You’ll also spot waterbuck, gazelle, impala, dik-dik and 300 species of birds.

Tsavo East National Park

Immense and rugged with craggy charm, Tsavo East is home to Africa’s Big Five and hundreds of other species. Nearly 700 lions roam these lands along with duiker, eland, hyena, hartebeest, jackal, mongoose and many more.

Day 1 – Journey Begins

We start early to ensure maximum game viewing time. Adventure In The Wild Safaris will pick you up at your Diani Beach/South Coast resort and proceed via the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, reaching Tsavo East in about 3 hours.

As you approach the rugged, red soil plains of Tsavo, you’ll know you’ve arrived at Kenya’s largest national park.

Key Attractions:

Mudanda Rock – A natural whale-backed rock above a dam, drawing thousands of elephants.
Aruba Dam – A man-made reservoir that attracts large gatherings of wildlife for water and grazing.

Later That Afternoon – Taita Hills Game Sanctuary

We’ll cross from Tsavo East to the scenic green hills of Taita. While smaller than Tsavo, its size works to our advantage as rangers often know where to spot the big game. It’s common to see dozens of species on a single game drive here, especially lions and elephants.

You’ll overnight at Taita Hills, choosing between:

Day 2 – Morning Game Drive & Return

Rise early to witness the forest and plains come alive. After the morning game drive, return to your lodge for breakfast and prepare for another exciting drive before heading back to Diani Beach.
