Serengeti Serena Lodge
Serengeti Serena Lodge
A truly unique experience awaits guests when they choose to stay at one of the most iconic safari lodges in the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti Serena Lodge boasts unusually designed accommodations, an African-style main lodge area, and breathtaking panoramic views across the Serengeti plains. Sitting high on a ridge, this popular Lodge invites guests to embrace the stillness of the region while enjoying the warm hospitality of their hosts.
There is an infinity swimming pool with views over the grasslands and a lounge and bar area where guests can unwind in between safari experiences. The dining room is large and split-leveled, with delicious buffet meals served morning, noon, and night. The ingredients are locally sourced and a blend of European and African food options.
Guests can choose to dine under the stars or indulge in an exciting bush breakfast. There is a circular barbeque area with a roaring fire, an evening meal experience quite like no other. Watch the African sunset from a beautiful viewing spot, a beverage of choice in hand, and the sounds of the African wilderness accompanying the moment.
Other activities at the Serengeti Serena Lodge include massage treatments and learning to speak Swahili, and it’s worth taking time out to browse the gift shop and boutique on site. Accommodation is unique in its beehive-shaped rooms, all neatly laid out in the surrounding bush.
Location
The Serengeti Serena Lodge lies in the heart of the Serengeti National Park’s Grumeti region. The Grumeti River runs nearby, and the Lodge is close to the Great Migration’s Western Corridor. A drive from Arusha will take around eight hours to drive, so it is recommended to take a one-hour flight to the Grumeti Airstrip. The drive to the lodge will take under two hours, a scenic, safari-style transfer through the Park.
Rooms / Tents
65 magnificent and unique guest rooms plus one suite are located around the infinity swimming pool, clustered stone-walled, thatched-roofed ‘rondavels’ resembling beehives or perhaps something from the Flintstones era. Views from these rooms are outstanding with open savannah and rugged plains as far as the eye can see. Wildlife sightings from these rooms are spectacular.
Darkwood furniture and classic African art are complemented by soft, earthy tones and splashes of color in bedding and rugs. There are 38 Double Rooms, 22 Twin Rooms, and five Triple Rooms. All rooms have a balcony with a view over the Mbingwe Valley. Two of the rooms are suitable for guests with physical challenges.
Every room has WiFi, 24-hour room service, a standing fan, a safe to store valuables, a writing table & chair, and tea/coffee-making facilities. The Serengeti Suite has a mosquito net over the king-size bed, a fully stocked mini-bar, a television, and a neat sitting room. The Suite is located privately away from the other rooms.
The en-suite bathrooms in the Standard Rooms include a shower, vanity, and toilet, with Eco Boutique bathroom amenities available for guests to use during their stay. The Serengeti Suite’s en-suite bathroom includes a separate bath and shower, double vanity, toilet, and the Eco Boutique bathroom amenities for guests to use during their stay.
Game Viewing / Activities
The game viewing in the Grumeti area and along the Grumeti River is simply spectacular, and guests are in for a treat with exceptional safaris in game drive vehicles and on bush walks. A hot air balloon ride is an incredible way to witness wildlife from a different viewpoint. Guests can enjoy a day trip to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, discover the Ol Duvai Gorge and Mbingwe Valley, or visit a Maasai village located nearby.
