The Loisaba Conservancy is located in Kenya’s northern region of Laikipia. This region is rich in wildlife and breathtaking vistas. The Conservancy is located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, near the equator.

History
The Loisaba Conservancy was originally a cattle ranch that opened its gates to tourists in the 1970s. In 1977, the Ancilotto family leased the land to an American investor who, with a team of Kenyan conservationists, launched the Loisaba Conservancy. A Trust was formed for the local community, who to this day continue to practice wildlife and wilderness conservation.

The Offices of the Loisaba Conservancy, located within the Conservancy, are open from 8am to 6pm daily.
How to Get There
By Road
The drive from Nairobi is around 200 miles north and will take approximately six hours, traveling along the A104 highway.
By Air
Flying from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Loisaba Airstrip takes approximately one hour. Guests are then met and transferred by road to their respective accommodations.
Best Time to Visit
Weather & Climate
The best time to visit Loisaba Conservancy is during the dry season which falls between June and October, with the peak being July and August. The weather is cooler, the landscape is naturally cropped, and game viewing is at its best. The shorter rains fall between November and early January, while the longer rains occur between March and May.
Avoiding Crowds
To avoid the crowds, consider traveling just before or after the high season. January and February offer good availability, lower prices, and amazing wildlife sightings including birdlife and animal births.
Value for Money
Since accommodation is located outside the Masai Mara National Reserve, options are limited but varied, ranging from well-priced lodges to ultra-luxury stays in a more private setting.

Loisaba Conservancy is known for its incredible elephant sightings, as it serves as a migration corridor. Wild dogs are often spotted, and there are over 260 bird species to enjoy.
The Terrain
The landscape features vast grassy plains, undulating valleys, escarpments, and cliffs. There are excellent viewpoints offering distant views of Mount Kenya.
Experience
Guests can enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles. Guided walks with a qualified guide are available and provide an intimate view of nature’s smaller wonders. For a unique perspective, horseback rides and camel rides are also offered.
