Core list

Lodges often supply shampoo, towels, and sometimes laundry—ask before you overpack. Internal flights commonly limit checked weight to about 15 kg in soft bags.

  • Clothing: Long sleeves/trousers for sun and insects; fleece for dawn drives; closed shoes for walking around camp.
  • Colours: Khaki, olive, stone—avoid black/dark blue (tsetse) and noisy fabrics.
  • Tech: Power bank, correct adapter, lens cloth; consider beanbag or small tripod for vehicle photography.
  • Documents: Passport, visa/ETA printout, insurance card, itinerary PDF offline on phone.

Nice-to-haves

Binoculars

8x32 or 10x42 suit most vehicles; worth more than a second camera body for many guests.

Medications

Pack prescriptions in carry-on; anti-nausea tablets if winding roads bother you.
