Selous River Camp
The Selous River Camp is a tranquil escape along the banks of the Rufiji River. With beautiful river views and beyond from the restaurant and bar area. A swimming pool is perfectly located offering guests a chance to view wallowing hippos in the nearby waterhole. Accommodation is a mix of ‘mudhuts’ or safari tents, all quietly located among the bush surroundings just outside the Nyerere National Park.
Meals are served in the central dining area where all dietary requirements are met. Fresh ingredients are used in preparing the wonderful breakfast buffet, sweet treats and desserts. There is a small sitting area and bar and guests have a chance to share stories of their day on safari around a campfire at night and activities include game drives, bird watching and tiger fishing adventures.
Location
Selous River Camp is located on the boundary of the Nyerere National Park in Tanzania’s southern safari region. The nearest airstrip is the Mtemere airstrip where flights from Dar es Salaam will take around 45-minutes, followed by a 10-minute drive through the park and out the Mtemere Gate of the Park.
Rooms / Tents
There are five unique Mud Huts available for guests at the Selous River Camp, with four of them set up as a Double occupancy and one ideal for families. All beds are four-poster with mosquito nets around them with rustic decor complimenting the mud-built walls and thatch-roofed ceiling. All huts are en-suite with a toilet, vanity and shower. There is a fan in the room and The four Safari Tents comprise one Double and three Twin rooms and are offered on a shared bathroom basis. All accommodation is solar-powered with any charging units available in the main bar. Each room and tent has a torch/flashlight provided as well as drinking water for brushing teeth.

Game Viewing / Activities
Guests staying at the Selous River Camp will enjoy safari drives through the Nyerere National Park in 4×4 vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon. Guided bush walks will introduce guests to the smaller wonders of the bush while birdwatchers can enjoy captivating scenes with over 400 species in the region. Boat safaris and cultural visits can be arranged for guests staying at Selous River Camp.
