Do you want to go where the wildlife is? In numbers and variety most people never see? We designed this special Migration Safari to bring you up close to every aspect of Tanzania’s epic herds of grazers and predators on their marathon quest for survival.

For nine days we’ll take you to the best of Tanzania’s parks, exploring and even moving amongst the magnificent range of animals that are Africa’s legacy to the world.

We will first discover the smaller parks with their brilliant colors and wildlife surprises and then move on to the land that holds the crown for being the migration capital of the world – the great Serengeti.

We will dedicate five days to exploring the picturesque regions of the Serengeti where we’ll be caught up with the thousands of moving animals on their timeless journey. This will be a very complete safari experience. Are you ready?

From Zanzibar to Savannahs

We built all kinds of efficiency into this African safari. Our Adventure In The Wild Safaris rep will pick you up at your hotel for the quick trip to Abeid Karume International Airport and the easy hour and fifteen-minute flight to Arusha.

There, your driver/guide will bring you to your private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep and you are off to Tarangire National Park. This little-known reserve will amaze you with its population of over 8,000 elephants and hundreds of lions.

Then it’s on to a special compact park, Ernest Hemingway called, “the loveliest I have ever seen.” You’ll probably agree as you take in the blue alkaline lake with its clouds of pink flamingoes blanketing Lake Manyara National Park. While here, you’ll have a choice of exciting optional activities.

Ever descend to the bottom of a volcanic crater, only to discover a lush world of every sort of bird and animal? This will be our next stop, the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet, the Ngorongoro Crater. From antelope to lions to leopards to zebra, hippos, crocodiles, and even flamingoes, this haven for over 30,000 animals is a dense magical realm that will leave you wide-eyed.

This Is The Serengeti

3,000 lions. 5,000 elephants. 53,000 buffalo. And over 2 million wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle. These are the numbers that make the Serengeti the richest, densest, most captivating wildlife park in the world.

Our safari is a deep dive into the various regions of this sprawling reserve beginning with the Central Serengeti, an area alive with lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and many other species throughout the year.

We will then move on to a special section of the park, not as well-traveled but gifted with gorgeous landscapes, and during the migration season from July through October, the home to immense herds of wildebeests in the throes of the Great Migration.

You’ll be in the heart of this awesome display of nature’s abundance as tens of thousands, and even more grazers move through this land, searching for taller grasses on which to survive.

Your Own Migration

And then, like the uncountable grazers, we too will circle back, this time flying out from a nearby Serengeti airstrip returning to the timeless shores of Zanzibar.

Day 2

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Route: Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara Park (145 km. Approx. 4 hrs.)

It’s our first morning on safari and we should take advantage of this quiet and peaceful time to explore the park all around us coming alive. We’ll breakfast and then aim our safari Jeep for Lake Manyara National Park, a lovely reserve, dominated by the alkaline lake and its nearby acacia forests.

It will probably be the park’s flamingoes that first catch your eye – thousands of fluttering pink feathers gathered along the shores of the blue lake. And keeping them company – pelican, stork, grey heron, ibis, and the African fish eagle.

Even though the lake can dominate the park, you’ll love the surprises waiting in Manyara’s nearby acacia forests. If you enjoy the antics of monkeys and baboons you’ve come to the right place. Perhaps one of the largest troops of baboons is found here deftly maneuvering through the mahogany and acacia trees.

Day 3

FULL DAY AT LAKE MANYARA WITH OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

This is a full day to explore the park but we are also offering an extensive choice of optional activities you can choose to enhance your safari experience.

Day 4

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Route: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater (80 km. Approx. 2 hrs.)

Let’s take a last look around this pretty park before taking the short drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the world’s largest intact volcano crater.

This will be a special day as we are going to descend into a unique and colorful universe mainly cut off from the rest of Africa. This crater floor is a distinct ecosystem that has evolved into a thriving region of over 30,000 animals – predators, grazers, birds, hippos, crocodiles, and more, all awaiting our discovery.

We’ll head down the crater walls in our 4 x 4 Jeep for a fun day of exploration – lions, leopards, buffalos, zebra, rhinos, elephants, and even pink flamingoes.

You’ll find all that wildlife inhabiting a blue/green world of forests, marshes, grasslands, and lakes – a very rich safari experience.

And then for a final delight, we’ll head back up the crater wall toward late afternoon to arrive in time for one of Ngorongoro’s spectacular sunsets.

Day 5

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Route: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park (211 km. Approx. 4 hrs.)

Today we will head for our final destination and the region where we’ll spend the bulk of our time exploring – Serengeti National Park.

But on our way, we can’t miss a fascinating stop at Olduvai Gorge, a world-famous ravine that has offered a treasure of antiquities. Here was discovered and keeps on revealing thousands of fossilized human remains and ancient tools, a magnificent record of our evolution dating back millions of years.

Speaking of timeless lands, we will continue to the vast Serengeti and its central region. The area is known for its immense herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffe, and its many predators – lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. We will find this wonderful variety of wildlife year-round, even when it is not the migration season.
