Your Safari Journey
Day 1: From Zanzibar to Tarangire National Park
Upon landing in Arusha, we’ll head straight into adventure with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. This hidden gem is less crowded than other parks, offering intimate wildlife encounters. It’s famous for its giant baobab trees and impressive population of over 8,000 elephants. Expect to see zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and possibly even predators on the prowl.
Day 2: Into the Heart of Ngorongoro Crater
Prepare to descend into one of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth — the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Often called the “8th Wonder of the World,” this UNESCO World Heritage Site teems with more than 30,000 animals, including lions, rhinos, hippos, and flamingoes. It’s nature’s amphitheater, and you’re center stage.
Day 3 & 4: Serengeti National Park – The Endless Plains
Next, it’s on to the legendary Serengeti National Park. Here, the vast savannah stretches to the horizon, echoing with the thundering hooves of wildebeest and zebra during the great migration. We’ll spend two full days tracking big cats, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, and over 500 species of birds across these ancient plains.
Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park
On our final park day, we visit Lake Manyara National Park, a lush haven famous for its vibrant pink flamingoes and rare tree-climbing lions. The park’s compact size offers a high chance of seeing elephants, baboons, giraffes, and dramatic Rift Valley scenery in just one game drive.
Day 6: Return to Zanzibar
We’ll head back to Arusha for your return flight to Zanzibar. Upon landing, your Adventure In The Wild Safaris representative will transfer you back to your hotel, bringing your safari full circle.

5-Day Tanzania Safari Adventure
Organized by Adventure In The Wild Safaris
Day 1
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
Ready to leave the beach for the wildlife of Africa? We’ll pick you up from your hotel or resort for the transfer to Abeid Karume International Airport. Your 8:00 am flight will take you over the Indian Ocean, headed for a 9:15 am landing at Arusha.
Day 2 – Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Distance: 204 km | Approx.: 5 hrs.
Say ‘hello’ to our first safari morning – let’s enjoy the quiet and soft light of the new day upon Tarangire’s lovely fields. We’ll have breakfast and head out to the Ngorongoro Crater area.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site and “Eighth Wonder of the World” first presents as an awesome vista, a 263 sq. km (101 sq. mi) bowl left on the earth’s surface after the collapse of a giant volcano. What you’ll find here is a complete ecosystem, virtually cut off from the rest of Africa, home to over 30,000 animals.
Are you ready? We’ll descend the crater’s steep walls in our 4 x 4 Jeep, landing in a universe of lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, zebra, hippos, crocs, and even pink flamingoes.
We’ll spend a fun day exploring Ngorongoro’s forests, grasslands, marshes, and lakes finding a dense concentration of wildlife that time and the rest of the world forgot.
Toward late afternoon, we will head back up the steep walls to pause at the crater’s rim for the final peak of a glorious day, one of Ngorongoro’s signature blazing sunsets.
Day 3 – Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Distance: 211 km | Approx.: 4 hrs.
Today is a big day, we’re off to explore the mighty Serengeti, but on the way, we’ll make a detour at one of the most important anthropological sites in the world: Olduvai Gorge. Here was discovered a treasure of fossilized human remains and tools, a record of mankind’s evolution going back millions of years.
Then, arriving at the Serengeti, you’ll take in its endless rolling savannahs, home to thousands of elephants, lions, jackals, and other predators.
We’ll enjoy some afternoon game drives before heading to our accommodation.
Day 4 – Full Day at Serengeti National Park
We designed this safari to take advantage of the riches of Serengeti – we will spend a full day exploring the park’s regions and the manifest populations of wildlife.
Besides the big cats, we’ll be tracking for rhino, buffalo, wild dog, honey badger, zebra, gazelle, and over at the park’s rivers, crocodiles, and hippos.
Other park favorites include eland, giraffe, klipspringer, and warthogs.
Day 5 – Serengeti to Lake Manyara National Park
Distance: 156 km | Approx.: 4 hrs.
Let’s take an early morning game drive through the park, looking for that last elephant, giraffe, or warthog. Then we’re off to Lake Manyara National Park, as compact as Serengeti is large. But don’t let that fool you — Lake Manyara is a busy reserve filled with every sort of bird and animal life.
Dominating the park is the blue alkaline lake, dressed with thousands (sometimes millions) of dazzling pink flamingoes who thrive on the water’s algae. You’ll also find pelican, stork, grey heron, and other water birds around the busy lake.
The forests here hold a colorful variety of wildlife as well like buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, impala, and giraffe. Monkeys? You’ll find the rascals skipping over the mahogany and acacia trees and the thumping troops of baboons are the most plentiful in any African park.
But do look up into the branches of the acacia trees where you might find the park’s most unusual species – tree-climbing lions. They like to take naps up there so don’t disturb them!
