12-Day Kenya Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu Game Reserve (340 km – Approx. 5 hrs)

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

0730hrs: Pick up from your Nairobi hotel or airport.
Depart for Samburu Game Reserve via Kenya highlands with scenic views of tea, coffee, and subsistence farmlands. Experience varying climatic zones from highlands to semi-arid northern Kenya.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Full day at Samburu with game drives. Options to combine visits to Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba Reserves. Wildlife sightings often concentrate along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeline of this semi-desert ecosystem.

Day 3: Samburu – Mount Kenya (180 km – Approx. 3 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Morning game drive in Samburu followed by departure to the Mount Kenya region. Afternoon activities vary by accommodation:

• Mount Kenya Safari Club: Relaxation and optional club activities.
• Sweetwaters Tented Camp: Game drives in Ol Pejeta Sanctuary.
• Mountain Lodge: Game viewing from lodge or nature activities.

Day 4: Mount Kenya – Aberdare National Park (80 km – Approx. 1 hr)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Optional morning activities based on your accommodation. Later, proceed to Aberdare National Park.

Day 5: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru National Park (240 km – Approx. 4 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Transfer from your base hotel (Aberdare Country Club or Outspan Hotel) and proceed to Lake Nakuru with a stop at Thompson Falls in Nyahururu. Scenic drive through farmlands and the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Afternoon birdwatching and game viewing at Lake Nakuru, home to flamingos, pelicans, and black & white rhinos.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve (265 km – Approx. 5 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Morning bird and game drive. Proceed to Masai Mara with scenic stops. Afternoon game viewing drive upon arrival.

Day 7: Full Day – Masai Mara Game Reserve

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

A full day of unlimited game drives in Kenya’s premier wildlife reserve. High concentration of wildlife and beautiful savannah scenery. Spot the Big Five and more. Picnic lunch by the Mara River with views of hippos, crocodiles, and possibly the great migration (July–October).

Day 8: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha (240 km – Approx. 4.5 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Morning game drive in Masai Mara. Depart for Lake Naivasha. Afternoon optional activities include boat rides, nature walks, or a visit to nearby Hell’s Gate National Park.

Day 9: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park (340 km – Approx. 5.5 hrs)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Optional bird and nature walk in lodge gardens. Depart for Amboseli National Park. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive.

Day 10: Amboseli National Park

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Full day game drives at Amboseli. Spot wildlife against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro (weather permitting).

Day 11: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park (110 km – Approx. 2 hrs)

Morning game drive in Amboseli. Proceed to Tsavo West. Enjoy stunning landscapes and game viewing drives.

Day 12: Tsavo West – Nairobi or Mombasa/Diani/Bamburi/Watamu/Malindi

Morning game drive in Tsavo West including a visit to Mzima Springs to view hippos, crocodiles, and exotic fish. Later, proceed to Nairobi or your selected beach resort on the Kenyan coast.
