Samburu is the most popular park in northern Kenya because it boasts so much diverse and unusual wildlife. The stark, brilliant terrain here is punctuated by the Ewaso Nyiro River which attracts a rich population of thirsty animals to its banks.

You’ll start your 3-Day adventure at Nairobi’s Wilson airport for the easy flight to Samburu. There you’ll be welcomed and hosted by your dedicated Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver / guide in private pop top 4 x 4 Jeep. After settling into the lodge or tented camp of your choice, get ready for the first of many unlimited, exciting game drives of your safari.

Samburu is known for its colorful array of unusual game such as gerenuk, oryx, Grevy’s zebra, dik-dik and reticulated giraffe. But there’s also plenty of big cats here such as lion, cheetah and leopard. We’ll be on the lookout for those as well as other large mammals like Cape buffalo, hippo and elephant.

Speaking of elephant, it’s a special treat to watch the herds in the morning light, lumbering toward the refreshing waters of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Then later toward evening, you can spot these elephant families making their way back up into the hills.

During your private Jeep game drives you’ll also be watching for frequently seen baboon, warthog, gazelle, impala and waterbuck. And if all that wildlife wasn’t enough, Samburu also features hundreds of bird species – eagles, guineafowl, starlings, hornbills and, yes, vultures!

Over the course of 3 days, your safari will include visits to nearby Shaba and Buffalo Springs reserves. These areas are a bit more lush than Samburu and offer sightings of aardvark, fox, jackal, hyena and Somali ostrich. Also, be on the lookout for hippo and crocodile along the river.

Morning pick up from your city area hotel and transfer to Nairobi Wilson Airport for the scheduled Samburu flight.

Day 2

Samburu
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Morning and afternoon game viewing drives at the Samburu game reserve.
Samburu is home to many unique animal species including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, long-necked gerenuk and many more.
We shall be on the lookout for cats including lion, cheetah and others.

Day 3

Samburu – Nairobi
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch

Breakfast at the lodge / camp.
Later transfer to the local airstrip with game viewing drive en-route.
