On this 6-day safari, you’ll venture out from the beach to the stark variety and wonderful abundance of Tsavo East and Amboseli parks. At Lake Nakuru you’ll switch gears from savannah to waterfalls and aquatic wildlife. Then at the Masai Mara get ready for the world-famous reserve of rolling savannah and dramatic rivers, all rich with wildlife.
From your Diani beach area resort Adventure In The Wild Safaris will begin your safari heading out over the scenic Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. With stops for refreshments along the way, you’ll soon arrive at historic Tsavo East National Park. There are plenty of lions here and dozens more wildlife species for you to observe as well as innumerable birds like ostriches, herons and even buzzards. On this first evening you’ll enjoy dinner and accommodations here in the park at the safari lodge or tented camp of your choice.
Day 2: Tsavo – Amboseli
We’ll arise in time to view the stirring wildlife as we continue to Amboseli National Park, arriving around mid-day. At Amboseli you’ll delight in the vast herds of elephant for which this park is famous. You’ll be delighted by this compact jewel of a park, especially the lofty presence of Mt. Kilimanjaro, outside its southern border.
Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Nakuru
Today will be a day filled with scenery as we travel to Lake Nakuru National Park. On the way, we’ll pass through the Great Rift Valley and take in the towering escarpment. We may even make some stops at Lake Naivasha and Lake Elmenteita along the way.
Soon we will come upon the natural beauty of Lake Nakuru National Park with its rocky peaks and acacia forests. Along the lake we’ll enjoy the pelicans and even some pink flamingos! The park is also home to lions, leopards and both black and white rhinos.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara
The morning is a perfect time for game and bird viewing alongside this mountain lake. We’ll enjoy some safari drives here before journeying off to the great Masai Mara National Reserve. We’ll arrive at the Mara in time for an afternoon game drive.
Think of Africa and visions of the Masai Mara are likely to appear. This reserve is a picture of rolling grassland, acacia trees and great herds of zebra and wildebeest… by the tens of thousands and sometimes even more! When you’ve come to the Mara, you’ve come to Africa. We’ll spend several days here.
Day 5: The Masai Mara
We’ll rise early to spend a full day exploring this park – home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, perhaps the most of any park in the region. Here you can spot the “big five” as well as cheetah, Thompson’s gazelle, giraffe and so much more.
We’ll have a picnic lunch by the Mara River and watch the hippos and crocodiles. During migration season (July – October) we’ll see an invasion of wildlife streaming across the river and into the park.
If you’d like there are also the optional activities of a visit to a Masai Village and hot air balloon ride over the Mara. Just ask your driver/guide to arrange them for you.
Day 6: Masai Mara – Nairobi – Diani Beach
We’re up for an early morning game drive as the sun breaks over the rolling hills. Take some final photos or just capture the Mara in your memory as we depart for Nairobi.
At the capital city we’ll board our flight back to the coast with views of scenic Kenya stretching out below. In no time you’ll be back at your beach resort, filled with adventure and a host of memories.
