Time to Safari

Witness unmistakable drama on the bordering lands of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti. These two parks feed an ecosystem nurturing millions of animals – herding, grazing, and hunting in their natural order to survive.
You’ll take in this timeless theater of the wild as you explore these vibrant reserves.

Not far off another special world awaits your discovery: the Ngorongoro Crater. This is a deep dive into the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet.
The animal life here is rich and dense – cut off from the rest of the world, the many species have thrived and multiplied, from lions to rhinos to flamingoes.

Yet another treasure on this Africa safari, Lake Manyara National Park, is a bright discovery of pelicans, flamingoes, and tree-climbing lions.
This pretty park is a flourishing contrast to the wide-open displays of the giant reserves.

Itinerary Overview

We’ll head out from Nairobi to the iconic Masai Mara, famous for its abundance of big cats and the Great Migration (July–October).
You’ll witness a massive display of moving animals like nowhere else on Earth.

Then, we’ll cross into Tanzania and explore Serengeti National Park, the breeding grounds for millions of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and topi.
The Serengeti is also home to lions, cheetahs, hyenas, wolves, baboons, and monkeys.

Along the way, we’ll visit the historic Olduvai Gorge – the fossil-rich cradle of humanity.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater in our 4×4 Jeep to explore its protected ecosystem, teeming with lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos, hippos, and flamingoes.

We finish our safari at Lake Manyara National Park, home to tree-climbing lions and thousands of flamingoes creating an unforgettable canvas of color.

From Lake Manyara, we head to Arusha. From there, you can return to Nairobi or continue your vacation to the sun-drenched beaches of Zanzibar.

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Park (120 km: 4 hrs)

7:30 am: Your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will come by your hotel, residence, airport, or place of your choosing in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep to begin this week-long adventure.

Let’s hit the road and head south to the great Masai Mara Park, via Kenya’s central highlands, passing local farms and communities. We’ll make stops along the way to enjoy the views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 2: Full Day at the Masai Mara

We’ll be up early to see the morning bring the park alive with light and birdsong. This is a day of unlimited game drives. Just discuss your preferences with your safari guide – how much exploring and how much relaxation time you’d like.

Your guide will want to take you to the Mara River for a picnic lunch and to see the hippos and crocodiles inhabiting this special border. During the Great Migration (July – October), this is the crossing site for thousands of wildebeests and zebras entering from the Serengeti.

For another vantage point, take an optional early morning hot air balloon safari. Or, visit a Maasai village to meet the people and explore their culture.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Serengeti (6 – 7 Hour Drive)

We’ll get up early to cross into Tanzania via Isebania and enter Serengeti National Park – part of the same ecosystem as the Mara. These vast plains are home to huge numbers of wildlife, including wildebeests, zebra, lions, and other predators.

Day 4: Full-Day at the Serengeti

Enjoy full-day game drives in this magnificent park. Witness thousands of wildebeests, the birthing season (depending on time of year), and large predator populations like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.

The Serengeti is a timeless place, vast and teeming with life.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro (3 – 4 Hour Drive)

We’ll travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at Oldupai Gorge, one of the world’s most important anthropological sites. Afterward, we’ll descend the Ngorongoro Crater in our Jeep for game viewing and a picnic lunch. Wildlife here includes lions, black rhinos, elephants, and flamingoes.

Later, we’ll ascend to the crater’s rim for sunset views.

Day 6: Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara (1.5 Hour Drive)

Early risers can enjoy sunrise at the crater’s rim before heading to Lake Manyara National Park. Here, blue waters and pink flamingoes fill the scenery, along with the park’s famous tree-climbing lions and other wildlife.

Day 7: Lake Manyara – Arusha – Nairobi/Zanzibar (2.5 Hour Drive)

We’ll enjoy a final morning game drive at Lake Manyara before heading to Arusha. From there, you may choose to:

  • Be dropped off at your Arusha hotel
  • Be dropped at Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport
  • Return to Nairobi, Kenya
