Kenya’s Best Beach and Greatest Parks

5 DAYS, 4 NIGHTS: AMBOSELI PARK & MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE

Starts Diani / Ends Diani – We’ll pick you up from your hotel or resort and transfer to nearby Diani Airport for your morning flight.

Enjoy this amazing safari in a customized open-sided Adventure In The Wild Safaris 4×4 Safari Jeep that includes: Cooler Box, long-range high-frequency radio, Power Outlets AC 230V, First Aid Kit, and above all, a professional multi-lingual safari guide who will ensure you have an unforgettable safari experience.

You’ve enjoyed Kenya’s finest beach, now extend your holiday to its finest wildlife parks – our two most popular. All the big game like lion, leopard, elephant, and rhino tread the fields and savannahs of Amboseli National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve.

So what’s the fastest, easiest way to get to these fabulous parks from the beautiful Kenya coast? Take one of our air safaris! The scenic flight leaves nearby Diani Airport for the quick trip to Amboseli Park. Then waiting at the airstrip, your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will welcome you with a private open-sided 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop aboard and we’ll take the quick trip to the park.

Busy Amboseli

You no doubt saw its towering form on your approach to Amboseli – the world-renowned outline of Africa’s highest peak – Mt. Kilimanjaro. Now that you are in the park, you can’t miss the great mountain as it dominates Amboseli’s southern border, a beautiful sentinel framing the wildlife all around.

And that wildlife is certain to include lots of big-tusked elephants parading by. The elephant population is so dense here that you’re guaranteed to see them during your stay. Amboseli is a compact park which means more wildlife in less space and more opportunities to see the big cats, buffalo, rhino, and a world of birdlife as well.

The Iconic Masai Mara

It’s only a one-hour flight from Amboseli to the king of Kenya’s parks, the Masai Mara. You’ll enjoy seeing the park from the air and once on the ground, the green rolling hills with their sculpted acacia trees and the golden savannahs will welcome you to this storied reserve.

The Mara is famous for its prides of lions, cheetahs, and leopard sightings. It’s the richest ecosystem around and you’ll be astonished by the hum of large and small game here.

Should you be here for the season of the Great Migration (July – October), you’ll witness an incredible volume of wildlife few have experienced. Thousands, and then tens of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle make their way across the Mara River, crossing into the park on their annual trek for food.

This is a spectacle from which memories are made. And you can view this awesome display from the air on our optional hot air balloon safari.

During your three days in the park, you’ll witness and experience more numbers and kinds of wildlife than you thought possible.

We’ll wrap up with a final flight over the vast fields and forests of Kenya on our way back to Diani Beach – the perfect finish for your Africa safari.

6 Days Samburu & Masai Mara Fly-In Safari Itinerary

Day 1
Diani – Amboseli (1½ Hour Flight)

Ready to take to the air? Your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver will come by your hotel or resort and transport you to nearby Diani Airport for your 7:30 AM flight to Amboseli Park. The 90-minute trip will have you witnessing the early morning light breaking over the coast and then Kenya’s fields and forests.

You’ll spot great Mt. Kilimanjaro ahead and maybe even its snow-capped summit peeking through the clouds. In no time, you’ll touch down at the airstrip where your driver/guide will greet you with a private open-sided Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop in and it’s a quick trip to the park.

Day 2
Full-Day at Amboseli

The safari life means an early rise to enjoy this peaceful time of the day and the quickening light upon the fields, hills, and marshes of the park.

Under the towering presence of Mt. Kilimanjaro, we’ll head out to look for the big game but also smaller and delightful sights like the warthog and ostrich. Amboseli is also known for its busy avian life, especially around its marshes – look for pelicans and Egyptian goose.

We’ll head up the aptly named Observation Hill to take in views of the park. Look for elephants marching to their favorite waterholes and the busy birdlife below. We’ll be able to leave the Jeep, stretch, and enjoy views of Kilimanjaro.

Day 3
Amboseli – Masai Mara (One-Hour Flight)

By now you may have some favorite spots in the park that you’d like to revisit. We have plenty of time before our afternoon flight to the Masai Mara.

We’ll enjoy lunch and then pack up for our quick trip to the airstrip. After goodbyes with our guide, we’ll again take to the skies at 14:00 hrs. (2:00 PM) for the one-hour flight.

We touch down at a convenient airstrip bordering the great park where you’ll be met by your second Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide in another open-sided 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep. It’s an easy drive to your accommodation to get settled in, and then we’ll have time for a game drive before dinner.

The Masai Mara is vast and the richest ecosystem in the region with over 95 types of mammals and hundreds of bird species. Here, you won’t have to look hard to see large and small predators and grazers. We’ll be tracking lions, cheetahs, leopards, jackals, hyenas, rhino, elephants, antelope, and so much more.

Day 4
Full Day at the Masai Mara

As in Amboseli, we have the day to go on as many game drives as we please. With your driver/guide, you can design the safari to suit your wishes and head to those areas where you’re more likely to find certain species.

But no trip to the Mara is complete without a drive down to the Mara River, site of the Great Migration’s crossing. From July to October, uncountable wildebeests, zebras, gazelle, and more pour into the reserve in a display of moving wildlife unequaled on the planet.

And waiting for them are the park’s many predators – crocodiles, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and more. To witness this spectacle from above, sign up for our optional early morning hot air balloon safari. As the light breaks, you’ll rise to watch the park come alive with the great trains of migrating wildlife. It’s a sight few will ever see.

Another wonderful option is a visit to the local Maasai village. Get to learn about another side of the human experience as you meet the villagers and see up close their pastoral lifestyle.

Day 5
Masai Mara – Diani Beach (2½ Hour Flight)

It’s our final day on safari so let’s celebrate with an early game drive and then a big breakfast at our accommodation.

We’ll have time for another game drive before lunch, so let’s revisit some favorite viewing spots or try out some new locations. The Mara always has new sightings and vistas waiting for us.

After lunch, we’ll enjoy the park once more as we exit for the airstrip.
