3 Day Vacations to Lamu Island
3 Day Vacations to Lamu Island, Visit Lamu Town to see and feel a piece of history that has been kept in great shape. On Lamu’s narrow streets made of coral stone, you can see what may be the oldest and best-preserved Swahili village in East Africa.
Lamu doesn’t let cars go; donkeys lead the way here. Lamu makes you feel like you’re in a different place and time with its courtyards, verandas, and ornate architecture.
In line with the retreat-like feel, Lamu has religious festivals and is a place where people from the Islamic and Swahili cultures can study each other’s cultures.
In this charming, old town, there is a lot to find. Walk along the beach near Shella and take a ride on a real dhow. Everything about Lamu is peaceful and will stay with you forever.
Fly from Nairobi to the nearby Manda Island airstrip. Then, take a small boat to Lamu Island and the village. This walk is open to people of all ages.
