Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park

Option to substitute Tarangire Park for Lake Manyara
Departs from/returns to Arusha

Enjoy this amazing safari in a customized pop-up roof Adventure In The Wild 4×4 Safari Jeep that includes: Cooler Box, long-range high-frequency radio, Power Outlets AC 230V, First Aid Kit, and above all, a professional multi-lingual safari guide who will ensure you have an unforgettable safari experience.

Tanzania is alive with colorful wildlife herding in dense and unusual parks – we’ll explore two of these dynamic areas on this spirited Tanzania Safari. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is unique in the world of safaris – it’s the largest intact volcanic crater on Earth. We’ll travel down into this dense, self-contained world of active wildlife in our 4 x 4 Jeep.

Small but jewel-like Lake Manyara National Park captivates visitors with the spectacle of thousands of bright, pink flamingoes along the lake’s shores! Add to that some very unusual tree-climbing lions and you’ll find yourself in a most enchanting spot.

YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS

We’ll head out from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater. Here you’ll find the richest ecosystem of lions in Africa, plus thick numbers of the other predator cats like cheetah, leopard, hyena, and jackal. And you’ll discover plenty of other large game on the crater’s expansive floor like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, and rarities like the black rhino and wild hunting dogs. Toward day’s end, we’ll head up the volcano’s walls to take in a blazing sunset on the crater’s rim.

From the great expanse of Ngorongoro, we’ll journey to a small gem called Lake Manyara National Park – a stunning mix of thick forest and the blue expanse of the lake. This pretty park offers us sightings of elephants, giraffes, impalas, leopards, and active troops of baboons.

One of the most unusual animal spottings you’ll enjoy at the park is the sight of a lion above you… lazily resting on a tree branch. The tree-climbing lions of Manyara are famous throughout the region but so are the uncountable pink flamingoes found on the shallow alkaline lake. Feeding on the algae, the minerals turn the birds’ feathers into a dazzling pink complexion – multiplied by the tens of thousands. The sight is at once, beautiful, stunning, and inspiring.

We also offer you the option of visiting lightly touristed Lake Tarangire National Park, instead of Lake Manyara. This park is known for its great herds of elephants and an active migration of thousands of animals passing through its borders.

Get ready for 3 days of exciting discovery on this fast African safari. Adventure In The Wild Safaris will handle all the details – all you have to do is enjoy the adventure in your private 4 x 4 jeep. Should you have any special requests, please let us know. We’re here to create your best safari experience ever!

3 ½ Hour Drive

7:30 am – Your Adventure In The Wild Safaris driver/guide will come by your hotel, residence, or another place of your choosing in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep to begin your safari.

We’ll head through Maasai country and may spot herders in their colorful shukas, tending to their cattle.

Day 2

We’ll be up early to savor the sights and sounds of the natural world. We may enjoy the sunrise near the crater’s rim – a most unforgettable sight.

Then it’s a quick trip to pretty Lake Manyara Park where we’ll be dazzled by the sight of thousands of fuchsia flamingoes blanketing the shores of the lake.

The park is well-known for its scenic beauty – Ernest Hemingway called it, “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

Manyara is equally famous for its tree-climbing lions but also plentiful other wildlife like elephants, warthogs, giraffes, and smaller game such as the little dik-dik, so named for the distinctive sound it makes.

We’ll spend our second safari evening at our Lake Manyara safari lodge or tented camp.

Then it’s time to point the 4 x 4 Jeep toward Arusha for the trip back. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch and contemplate the sights and sounds of our Africa safari.
