Tsavo West National Park
One of the largest parks in Kenya, Tsavo West offers visitors dramatic scenery and equally dramatic wildlife. This is the home of the famous Tsavo lions, where tales of ferocious hunting have long been a part of local lore.
Amboseli National Park
If elephants are on your mind, Amboseli is the place to be. Perhaps no other park in Africa offers as many opportunities to view these giant grazers in the wild. Also expect sightings of cheetah, zebra, wildebeests, hyena, and hundreds of bird species.
Day 1 – Diani Beach to Tsavo West
We’ll pick you up from your Diani Beach or south coast resort and journey out on the modern Mombasa-Nairobi Road. Arriving at the red-soil expanse of Tsavo West Park, we’ll enjoy lunch and then a game drive. Accommodations this evening will be in Tsavo West at the lodge or tented camp of your choice.
Day 2 – Tsavo West to Amboseli
We’ll be up early with the African sunrise and take a game drive to watch the world awaken in the wild. After breakfast, we’ll head to the verdant cool of Mzima Springs. Amidst the refreshing greenery, we’ll be looking for hippos, crocs, colourful fish and many species of birdlife.
From Tsavo West, it’s a short drive to Amboseli Park. You’ll know you’re there by the sight of magnificent Mt. Kilimanjaro towering over the park. Animal viewing is bountiful – watch for lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and over 300 bird species. Tonight, you’ll stay at a lodge or tented camp in Amboseli.
Optional: While at Amboseli, enjoy a visit to a Masai Village – meet the people and learn about their culture. ($25 per person – arranged with your driver guide)
Day 3 – Amboseli to Diani Beach
It’s another early start! Look for another African sunrise over the savannah and (weather permitting) a view of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak.
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in Amboseli. Then, we’ll transit back to Diani Beach, with a lunch stop en route at a picturesque spot overlooking Tsavo East Park.

“The early bird catches the worm!”
We start early on our morning game viewing drive with a visit to the Mzima Springs.
We watch the African sunrise as the natural world unfolds amid the freshness and beauty of the morning.
At Mzima Springs, we’ll view hippos, crocodiles, exotic fish, and a variety of bird species. The greenery surrounding the springs is a welcome contrast to the otherwise harsh terrain that forms most of Tsavo West.
Later, the tour proceeds to Amboseli National Park. Afternoon game viewing drives follow. Game viewing at Amboseli is a leisurely activity with animals easily seen and Mount Kilimanjaro providing a magnificent background for scenic and wildlife photography.
Clouds may open up and the awesome sight of the snow-peaked Mount Kilimanjaro shall leave us mesmerized – weather permitting.
Day 3: Amboseli – Diani (515 km, approx. 8 hrs with lunch stop)
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch
We shall be early again!
The sunrise and emergence of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak is always dramatic (weather permitting).
Later, depart Amboseli for Diani with a short exit game viewing drive.
There shall be a lunch stop at a restaurant overlooking Tsavo East before continuing to your coastal destination.
