10 Days, 9 Nights: Gorilla & Chimpanzee Treks & Safari Tour

Day 1 – ARRIVE & OVERNIGHT AT ENTEBBE

Arrival at Entebbe Intl’ Airport and be met by our Driver Guide for a warm welcome into Uganda followed by a transfer to Boma Guest House. He will also brief you on your safari ahead of time and advise if best to change monies on this day. Time allowing you will enjoy an Entebbe city tour and return to the lodge.

Day 2 – DRIVE TO KIBALE NP via FORT PORTAL (331kms / 5.5hrs)

After breakfast, leave Entebbe and drive to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal where you will have beautiful views of the Ruwenzori “Mountains of the Moon” and the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift Valley. Proceed to check in and have lunch at Kibale Forest Camp.

In the afternoon, take a guided walk in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary – a community-based conservation project. Proceeds from tourism go directly to support local education, agriculture, and development programs.

The sanctuary hosts a wide array of bird and animal species including the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller, Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, and several types of Barbets.

Day 3 – CHIMPANZEE TREKKING in KIBALE FOREST

Start early and report to the ranger station at 08:00 am to begin your chimpanzee trek. Kibale Forest is home to 13 species of primates and over 335 bird species. Watch the playful chimpanzees in their natural habitat and enjoy the biodiversity of the forest which includes forest elephants, giant forest hogs, and various antelope species.

Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4 – DRIVE FROM KIBALE TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK (143kms / 2.5hrs)

After breakfast, drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check in at Kasenyi Safari Camp for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive along the park’s extensive track network.

Day 5 – AM GAME DRIVE + PM KAZINGA CHANNEL WATER SAFARI

Start with an early game drive to spot elephants, buffaloes, lions, and a variety of antelopes and birdlife. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, take a 2-hour water safari along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see hippos, water birds, elephants, and buffaloes as they graze and drink by the water.

Day 6 – GAME DRIVES EN-ROUTE TO ISHASHA SECTOR (75kms / 2hrs)

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a game drive en-route to the Ishasha Sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Check in at Ishasha Jungle Lodge, have lunch, and embark on an afternoon game drive up to the Ishasha River bordering Congo DRC.

Day 7 – DRIVE TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NP (64kms / 1.5hrs)

Drive from Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route wildlife viewing. Arrive at Buhoma and check in at your lodge, followed by lunch.

Day 8 – GORILLA TRACKING in BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NP

After early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch for a briefing and then head into the forest for the unforgettable Gorilla tracking experience. Spend 1 hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest.

Day 9 – DRIVE TO LAKE MBURO NP + PM GAME DRIVE/NATURE WALK (259kms / 6hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park and check in at Kimbla Mantana Camp. After lunch, proceed to Rwonyo Centre for a guided nature walk. The park offers excellent walking safaris with no elephants or lions, making it ideal for up-close experiences with zebras, topis, impalas, buffaloes, and more.

Climb a hill for breathtaking views of nine of Lake Mburo’s fourteen lakes. Return to the lodge with game viewing en-route.

Day 10 – DRIVE BACK TO ENTEBBE + DEPARTURE (264kms / 5hrs)

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Entebbe with a stop at the Equator and lunch along the way. Continue to the airport for your evening departure flight.
