SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Serengeti National Park: a few important parts of northern Tanzania make up Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti environment covers the eastern Mara and northern Simiyu regions.
Size
It takes up about 5700 square miles to make up Serengeti National Park.
History
History: People have been exploring Serengeti National Park since the late 1800s. But it wasn’t until the 1920s that the park became famous, when the great wildebeest migration was first seen and recorded.
In the 1930s, the Serengeti Game Reserve was a famous place for sport hunting. This stopped around 1937, and in 1940, the park was made a protected area. When the southern part of the reserve was made a national park in 1951, the park offices were set up on the edge of Ngorongoro Crater.
The park has been one of Tanzania’s most popular and truly amazing national parks since it split off from the Ngorongoro protection area in 1959. In 1981, Serengeti National Park was named a World Heritage Site.

The best time to visit Serengeti National Park
Climate and weather
During the winter months of June through August, the Serengeti National Park has a dry season. In June, it can get up to the mid-seventies, but in July and August, it cools down. Between November and April, it rains for a short time. In March and April, it rains for a longer time. The best time to see wildlife is during the dry winter months. In July and October, the great migration is the most exciting event.
Staying away from crowds
Plan your trip for the “green season,” which lasts from late October to December and is right after the busy winter season. You can go on safari just before all the other people if you go in late May or early June.
Good Value for Money
Different types of accommodations mean that people on a wide range of prices can still have a great safari experience in the Serengeti National Park. Lodges and camps in rural areas are available to guests, or they can choose to stay in the middle of a great migration path in one of Africa’s best safari spots. Taking the road also lowers the general cost of travel.

Serengeti National Park Safari Experiences
Game Drives
In order to see all the animals that live in Serengeti National Park, the best way is to take a safari car, which can be open or closed. Drives in the early morning or late afternoon can be used instead of a full-day trip with a picnic lunch for guests.
Think about riding in a hot air balloon over the Serengeti’s beautiful plains and forests. Visitors may be able to see the amazing Great Migration while they are there, based on the time of year they go. You can see a lot of wildebeest crossing the Mara River, which connects the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
Safaris with a guide
Walking safaris with a guide are available in Serengeti National Park. These safaris can last anywhere from two days to a whole week. You can see more of the landscape than you would from a safari car, and you can spend hours watching nature up close.
