Best Time to Visit

Weather & Climate

Temperatures in Ol Kinyei range from 50°F during the winter months (June to August) to around 80°F in the warmer months (October to December). The dry winter season offers ideal conditions for safari adventures.

Avoiding Crowds

To avoid crowds, it’s best to skip visiting during the wildebeest migration in July and late September/October. While this period offers dramatic wildlife action, it also draws large numbers of tourists. The dry season is still excellent for safaris but expect busy reserves and lodges.

Value for Money

Though within the greater Masai Mara National Park, Ol Kinyei Conservancy offers a quieter, more exclusive safari experience. Fewer camps and vehicles mean a more intimate adventure, and being in a conservancy can help reduce overall safari costs with Adventure In The Wild Safaris.

Wildlife and Landscape

Popular Wildlife Sightings

Ol Kinyei hosts four of the “Big Five” animals, with the rhino being the exception. Guests can expect to see gazelles, antelopes, giraffes, zebras, and hyenas, along with large numbers of wildebeest during the migration.

The Terrain

The conservancy features rolling hills, deep ravines, and open grasslands, creating a diverse and visually stunning environment that makes it a standout destination in the Mara ecosystem.

Experiences

Game Drives

Adventure In The Wild Safaris offers game drives in both open and enclosed 4×4 vehicles. Drives typically take place early in the morning and late afternoon, lasting around three hours and often concluding with a beautiful Mara sunset.

Guided Walking Safaris

Led by local Maasai guides, walking safaris in Ol Kinyei allow guests to explore the landscape on foot. These guided walks offer a closer look at plains game and may include encounters with elephants and other large mammals.
