By Road
Travel by road from Nairobi takes around three hours (98.5 miles), following the Uhuru Highway/A104. There are three main gates into Lake Nakuru National Park: Main Gate, Lanet Gate, and Nderit Gate (less frequently used).
By Air
Lake Nakuru National Park is 81 miles from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, with daily flights into the Naishi Airstrip located within the park.
Best Time to Visit
Lake Nakuru National Park is a year-round destination. The dry seasons between June and October and again from January to March offer the best game viewing and birdwatching opportunities, with easier access to all areas of the park. However, the park’s varied wildlife and scenic beauty make it appealing throughout the year.
