Nestled in the heart of Tsavo West, Salt Lick Safari Lodge is a renowned destination that combines cultural immersion and rich safari experiences. Location

Located deep within the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, Salt Lick Safari Lodge offers expansive views over the Tsavo plains. The lodge is conveniently close to an airstrip for fly-in safaris and is approximately a 6-hour scenic drive from Nairobi.

Alternatively, guests can opt for a unique travel experience aboard the Madaraka Express train, which offers a 3-hour journey from Nairobi. A generously sized waterhole in front of the lodge attracts a wide array of wildlife, while nearby attractions include the World War I Museum, historic battlefields, and local Taita villages.

Rooms / Tents

The lodge features 96 elevated rooms built in a distinctive chalet-style design. Each room is perched on stilts, with circular cream-colored brick walls and black cone-shaped roofs. Spread across three levels, the rooms come with double, twin, or triple bedding configurations.

Every room includes a private en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. Interiors are modest yet comfortable, with neutral tones enhanced by subtle splashes of color. Essential amenities include mosquito nets, an electric fan, and an in-room safe.
